In my opinion I think it's time for clubs to get together to make a stand for this. I think it should be written into a players contract that the club won't stand in the way of them playing for their country but if they come back injured and not fit for purpose then it hits the player in the pocket.
At the end of the day it is the club who pays these players millions of pounds but it is always the club that suffers. How ironic that towards the end of the Newcastle game we subbed silva and sergio to save them yet days later they are now not fit for purpose.
This could cost us the title, next round of cups etc whilst paying the best part of 300 grand a week in wages.
This might make a player think twice about playing a friendly during a crucial part of the domestic season against Uzbekistan or the jibrovian best eleven
Someone should be accountable
All in my opinion. :-)
Do you not think that may make players think twice about joining us? I do. Surely part of the attraction of our club is the way we treat our players?
Soon enough Sergio will come to realise that he can't please everyone all of the time and in order to prolong his career he'll have to say no to some matches.
