Injuries.

I can only assume that the intensity of our training is the cause of all these injuries? That and the fact our medical team is wank, even Mancini had a go at some of them!

I'll quote, myself from another thread we aren't as bad as we think even in this weeks physioroom table we are third, with seven injuries but that includes Toure and Nasri who are probably fit so 5 injuries would put us mid table.

The injury table for last season s below - days( total injuries) Ask any City fan and they will say we are worse than most. That's because we don't notice other teams injuries usually. I agree we seem to have had more than our fair share this season so far, but it's the knee jerk blame the medical staff I object to. Don't you think the people running the club would notice and act if there was a problem.

Newcastle 1,871 days (37 total injuries)
Arsenal 1,466 (35)
Everton 1,423 (37)
Manchester United 1,348 (39)
QPR 1,283 (31)
Aston Villa 1,148 (29)
Hull City 1,145 (26)
Stoke City 1,109 (27)
Liverpool 1,095 (28)
West Ham 924 (31)
Burnley 871 (16)
Sunderland 863 (20)
Crystal Palace 856 (19)
Southampton 782 (22)
Swansea City 671 (22)
West Brom 640 (19)
Manchester City 630 (24)
Leicester City 540 (22)
Tottenham Hotspur 475 (19)
Chelsea 428 (19)

Isn't the problem really that our injuries happens to our most important players? I mean of our main player axis Kompany has his Calf problem, Silva his ankle and Aguero his tendency to muscle injuries. Only Yaya seems to be fairly ok with regards to injuries. So we may not have many injuries in an absolute sense, but they do take our best players out. I don't think there is much that can be done about it. Calf, ankle and muscles seems to be permanent weak spots for our fantastic 3.

Maybe I don't know, but could it be that as City fans we follow our injuries, but without looking at physioroom would you know who Liverpools 8 injuries are or Newcastles 13, the United 7, West Hams 7, Evertons 6.etc I bet if you talk to most fans of those clubs they would all tell you their club had the worst injury record.

Fernando and Toure look like they're back in full training, which is a relief.

I apologise if I'm incorrect but in City's annual report they state that we had the best injury record last season (quite how you qualify/quantify injuries I don't know) but despite the injuries we seem to constantly get, it isn't as bad as elsewhere or as bad as we think.

Touch wood we don't get any major injuries but it seems to be a certain few who are constantly struggling - Aguero, Silva and Kompany largely. Aside from that we've generally been okay elsewhere, it's just that as fans we will always feel their loss a lot more than others. Having said that, when Aguero was injured and we were without a true centre forward I believe we won all of our league games and got back to level points with Chelsea last season. It was actually as player returned that we seemed to lose form, around the time Yaya left for the ACON. We're a much better squad now and despite injuries we have replacements.

Zabaleta and Clichy would have been the two preferred full backs in any City fan's side at the start of the season and despite losing both, Kolarov and Sagna have been very impressive. Mangala has really stepped up and looked excellent alongside Kompany but we have experience and quality in Demichelis and Otamendi to cover them now which is a significant improvement to what we've had in previous seasons. Similarly, we have cover for Silva in De Bruyne, more pace options with the addition of Sterling and cover for Aguero through the attacking midfield or striking options we have in the squad. Through playing a slightly different style we can still cope.

Losing Yaya and Fernandinho for instance is far from ideal but our gameplan should be to sit and absorb and get Delph and Fernando to play the ball forward quickly to counter attack. The only issue occurs when Pellegrini tries to get the same style of play and system to perform despite losing personnel - which is where we've suffered in past seasons in my opinion. We won't get the level of control and creativity from Fernando and Delph as we would Dinho and Yaya, so we shouldn't try to.

With three big games approaching we just need to keep who we have fit and keep amassing points and then we can welcome Delph, Clichy, Silva and Aguero back into a side in a very good position.
