Injuries.

Hamstring injury ( what else ).

Its totally unacceptable for a club at this level to find itself after 10 games with only 5 members of its squad available for the first ten games of the season.

The whole medical and conditioning set up needs a complete revamp and the best of the best bought in to fix this problem which while never being able to be completely turned around has to get better.

We haven't even come close to the worst of conditions and suspensions are about to kick in to players.

Only a continuance of this scenario can and will derail our season , it needs to be addressed and improved upon ASAP as its been the biggest issue facing us for over two seasons now and its getting worse not better.

There's no medical preparation that can stop opposition players hacking at ankles and shins.

That would account for just one of our injuries (David Silva). All the others are soft tissue or muscle related. It was the same in 2014, the same in 2015 and it's even worse this season. Some serious questions need to be asked about our fitness, medical and conditioning regimes

should the premier league let teams sign loan players if players pick up a injury playing for there internationals teams we are going to lose aguero for 2 months why not let city loan a player to cover aguero's injury

I know we can sign a out of contract player but why not let us sign players like the lad at WBA
Saido Berahino on a 3 month deal then the next transfer window in jan 2016 then sign him full time

Because 1. we don't need him and 2. WBA might object?

(I was just quoting him not saying go and sign him)

but if you let players go to internationals and then get a long term Injuries there is no cover and that's wrong for the clubs who pay his wage and try to keep him fit all season so he can play internationals. the FA / Premier League should bring in a loan transfer for long term players injured on international duty and just like any other transfer its up to both clubs and player to agree a loan fee

also the club can then sign him on full terms if they want after the loan deal ends or on the next transfer window that's opens
so if Manchester city lose aguero for 12 weeks then we can bring in a player on a 3 month loan then sign him full time in jan transfer window 2016

That's just one injury.

Kolarov Hamstring, no return date
Kun Hamstring, 8th November
Yaya Hamstring, Saturday
Nasri Hamstring, Saturday
Delph Hamstring, 25th October

Plus the long term injury to Clichy.

To me, that is alarming! Especially when Zaba Kompany Mangala Hart and Fernando have all had muscle injuries this season too and it's not even halfway through October.

I prefer a previous poster's idea where the countries FA have to pay the wages and and medical costs if they knowingly play a player that may be carrying a knock. It'll soon stop all this nonsense.

maybe so but its down to the player in the end and how can you turn down your country
the club who pay his wage are just to soft to say look you don't need this game at the moment get yourself 100% fit take the 2 weeks off and do some light training and get some sun on your back the bigger picture is your looking after number 1

but if the laws of the game uefa/fifa can bend to let players sign out of contract then it can let league clubs cover there long lost to international football or just don't release the players when knowing they are not fully fit. i point the finger at united and fergie when they would not let there players play for England and the FA had to bring in the rule of letting there own staff have the last say

They should at least not allow players to play for the international team if they did not play in the previous club game because of fitness/injury.

Does this not happen already – or something similar where the FA have to insure the player to avoid being sued?

What about not having the International breaks at all through the season and have them all in June? Put all Continent Tournaments on at the same time once every four years (not have the Copa one year, the Euros the next year, the ACON every two years at random between) and have the World Cup every four years and then the qualifying happens in the years in between like an end of season tournament. So then there wouldn't be four weeks of domestic football broken up by a week of internationals then four weeks of domestic football again and repeat. It would be set out that September to May is the domestic football season and June is the international football month.

This would be perfect but I imagine they wouldn't be able to fit all the matches into one month.

I'd personally scrap the carling cup (or at least have it purely as a non-prem comp or even a non-european team comp) so it frees up time, introduce a winter break in January for 2 weeks (don't know why everyone thinks they need a month off) and then ensure there is enough time at the end of the season for all the relevant internationals. Never going to happen mind.

In sergio's case the argy manager manager made the excuse his injury was not the one he was already carrying,if the player has an injury they will naturally put more strain on the rest of the body to protect it hence a new injury
I would say if a player has any injury they should not play or they have to pay the club the full costs
He had tevez on the bench so need to risk him from the start

As frustrating as it is with these injuries I think a lot of our players want to play at International level even if they are carrying knocks. I've said before, we don't have a team full of rag like c*nts like Carrick, Scholes etc who would pull out of any International team to play for the rags. We also don't have a c*nt of a manager like bacon who forced his players to pull out of tournaments. (including trying to force Sven not to call Rooney up for a major tournament).

Our players want to play football, rightly or wrongly that's what is costing them. I don't believe that Silva, Aguero or Kompany are being forced against their will to play. Quite the opposite I'd imagine. It's frustrating but I just hope we get the results we need with the squad we do have available and that Aguero and Silva rest up and are fit to play for us over the busy xmas period.

We've managed before without star names and we can again. As long as our defence does its job we can create and score.

I'd even say get rid of the League Cup altogether and just have one competition for the league teams and one for the non-league teams. In Germany & Spain, they just have one main cup competition which runs all season. So you'll play the first round at the start of the season (the DFb Pokal in Germany starts at the beginning of August. with a seeded team playing a non-seeded team) and the final is played in May, with a maximum of 6 games. Plus they only paly 34 games in the league. So you could win the double in Germany and only play 40 games. We played 49 games in winning the League Cup in 2013/14.

In the Copa Del Rey, the La Liga teams don't come in until the last 32, which is generally around the end of October but it's two legs per game, meaning playing 9 games to win it, meaning 47 games to win a domestic double in Spain but they get the last 16 and quarter finals out of the way before the knock-out stage of the CL kicks in. So Real Madrid and Barcelona will only have two games (against non-seeded teams) while playing the CL group stages and no more than 3 games during the knock-out stage.

I couldn't agree more. I think it's a shame for lower league teams but I can't think of any reason why the prem couldn't be exempt from the league cup. IF we could hold other games on European nights then I'd say keep it as a prem inclusive cup without teams in Europe. Therefore during a CL and Europa night they can run league cup games freeing up time for more prem games. Anything which can enable us to be fresher in Europe and face less games in a season thus limiting the likelihood of injuries I'm all for. Let's be honest though, currently we don't help ourselves by fielding such strong teams in the league cup.

Sergio will think twice from now on, I think.

Dont agree Pam. The Argies are very proud people and playing for their country is very important to them. Sergio could have injured himself at any time, say the first five minutes against Bournemouth.

There is now an arrangement whereby FIFA pays compensation if a player is out for 28 days or more following an official international. They appear to have agreed it to avoid a case in the ECJ.
Yep just looked it up it's called the FIFA Club Protection Programme & it does seem voluntary on FIFA's behalf - that said it affords compensation for the player's club on a daily basis (within certain limits) -but guess what....payments are only forthcoming AFTER 28 days of continuous injury, which doesn't include the day the injury occurred or the day it concludes - in short the first 29 days of injury are excluded from the programme and therefore, for that period, the club receives zip! Thanks for the heads up PB, but I'm still feeling it's a damn cheek - FIFA seriously need bringing into line imo.

what about the league cup being a under 21 cup with only 3 senior players playing at each game also what about sunday night football for champions league teams and give them as much time to rest after midweek games I don't understand early/late Saturday kick offs when playing champions league even if you have played the Tuesday game
