He has had a reaction , a swollen ankle so that was a stupid cameo last week

I do hope Pep is angry with both KDB and Martinez. They will have done scans on that ligament post Portugal and pre Italy, so they will have both known it was a risk for him to play.

If you watch that "Together" documentary, Kevin says until that Chelsea FA Cup semi last year, he had never had an ankle problem.

We've just put him on a new 5 year contract and City would have every right to feel miffed by this considering Belgium don't pay his weekly wage.

If clubs could insert the right to refuse players to play internationals I think a lot of top players would not be attending major tournaments. While the lure of pulling on the national shirt is strong if you had to decide on that pleasure or 300K a week you might think twice.

Oh I completely agree with that but there is a difference between a player pulling up with a hamstring injury or getting a broken leg from a dodgy tackle. This was a pre-existing injury from the match before and shouldn't have ever been risked.

Wasn’t that precisely the eventuality that Cugat said would necessitate surgery? Martinez is an absolute cnut, but Kev has to share responsibility. He knowingly played with torn ligaments. I’d cheerfully dock his pay

Had a feeling that something wasn't right after his cameo on Sunday. Didn't see him in any of the training video's or pictures from this week.

Honestly expect him to have surgery at this point and we won't really see him until 2022.

Of course there has to be responsibility on both sides, but I think it's really bad from Belgium/Martinez, a player is always going to want to player no matter what, it's their responsibility to overrule emotion and do what is best for the players welfare. Surely the national teams doctors wouldn't of advised him to play.
