If he is fit to go, then what’s this nonsense about “preseason”? Doesn’t that, by definition, denote not fit?

The arrogance is to suggest that a player goes to the World Cup to represent his country, but really it’s to GET FIT so he can comeback and play a SUPPORTING ROLE for City.

It was obvious from the start where the arrogance was, but some are too blinded by their overly blue tinted specs.

It's not arrogance it's a City fan being selfish. A lot of us don't give a shit about England. Personally I do and I hope Phillips makes it in time for the World Cup because it will give him a huge boost. To not go to the World Cup will be a huge blow for him and having been a consistent performer for England I think the squad is better with him in it, even if it's only in the final group game that he's ready to come off the bench for 20 mins or so. In the knockouts he's the sort of midfield powerhouse England need with the defence that's likely to be behind him.

If he gets fit at the WC then it does benefit City and that's a very selfish outlook yes, but it's also selfish to want De Bruyne to play less for Belgium and wrap himself in cotton wool rather than play every minute and fly around the pitch putting his body on the line. De Bruyne loves Belgium so he does it. I'd rather he didn't.

Seems like Phillips is close to a return. Pictured in group training.

Seems odd that he would put off this surgery for so long considering how little time he missed. Whether the operation is a long-term fix is still to be seen.
