Had a look at his Instagram account. There are two videos of Aymeric training about a week ago:

  • Doing alternate leg extensions.
  • Stationary cycling
I don't think they are new. In these cases, the joint is not taking any lateral stress. That will be the next step.

I am hoping any day now we will hear that he is back on the training pitch jogging in straight lines. Then it will be twists and turns followed by contact.

Has anybody got any idea about the timescale from weight-training and stationary cycling to full training?

Laporte has been to Barcelona and just returned. I am wondering whether he may have been getting the go-ahead to step up his training?

Will he be doing light training, jogging and possibly running or I’m I jumping the gun here ..
Educated guess I would say. He must know how we would interpret the videos. He's just been to Barcelona. And now he's at the training ground. Yesterday he was in the City dressing room. He's sending us a message.

Found myself down a rabbit hole of rehab documents a few days ago on this. Quick summary from what I gathered...

- isokinetic (resistance machine based to recover base strength) exercises take about 4 weeks, I assume this was done in Barcelona and is now complete if he is back on campus
- next step - approx six weeks of strength and functional movement (Bikes, running, resistance bands, jumping etc), presume he is is now two weeks into it, so assuming 4 weeks remaining
Final steps - 4 weeks estimate to maximize endurance and function before getting into an sport or peformance training (ie on the training pitch)

So allowing for two weeks to get "Match fit", by my calculations you are about 10 weeks from now, which would mean mid Jan return, but doesn't take into account how quickly rehab recovery rates are accelerating
