Avon 'Skin so Soft' spray works a treat at a repellent (Amazon link). Jungle Formula contains DEET which is safe to use (Safety Data Sheet) but works on contact rather than actually keeping the bugs away.

Skin so soft helps a little, DEET is definitely more effective.

Heard an article on the radio about grapefruit extract being the next big thing aga
inst mosquitoes. It's just been approved in the US and is coming up for approval in Europe. The same active ingredient is found in catnip.
Apparently DEET feels bitter to mozzies and repels them, but the essential oils in grapefruit attacks their nervous system and kills them.

I’ve started using the skin so soft now we’re regularly in shorts at the golf club.. there were a growing number of horse flies that make a beeline for me.. Bought it for a trip to Scotland a few years ago and it seems to be working

Haha, I've just asked Mrs Ewing what that Avon stuff is called, and she's just gone off hunting down our supply. This stuff isn't strictly a bug repellent, is it? But it seems to work. We've told loads of people about it, those who go golfing for hours on end and the like, and they seem to give it 5* every time!

Cactus Juice bug repellent works extremely well too. You can purchase it from Amazon. I believe it is all natural.

According to my missus it works because they can't get a grip on your skin to put the thingy in to withdraw blood (Avon soft skin) so I said why didn't we take some to Greece? Oh I forgot

Got bitten really bad a few weeks ago on holiday in Greece the both of us,but the Fuckers have followed us back here

Are you sure it's not bed bugs? We brought them back from France a few years ago, well actually we think we probably picked them up in the hotel hostel in Dover on the way over. If you've got them you should see some evidence around the edges of the mattress. I don't want to worry you but they are not easy to get rid of and the earlier you start the better.

No it was the other night when it was really warm and and we both went commando,(sorry for the people that know me putting that image in their heads) we had the Windows wide open,and haven't had any more bites since we started acting English and wearing our PJs

I attract mosquitoes, little bleeders think it's tea time. Over the years I've tried just about every spray, plug-in, wristband, belt fan, candle, ultrasonic fan, homemade remedies etc 99% with poor results. This one actually works for me. Frustrating having to carry it around all the time and reapply but it smells better than most.



A similar thread a few years ago a poster offered to send out some things to try. I received one of these for after bite, worked a treat.

I attract mozzies but find the wristbands with e y e logo help. Also using fragrance free shower gel etc helps.
