Interesting Interview in the Mirror of all places

Looks like those who argued long and hard last season that we had a fine young manager on our hands, are well on the way to being proved right! This article reads to me like a man giving reasons (not excuses) for why the team under performed last season, and it all sounds fair enough to me. It's just possible he could go on to be our best manager since Mercer, so I think it's time for people like me to cut the guy some slack (ie. not calling for his head on a platter if we lose a couple of games unexpectedly). In fact, for the first time in many years of supporting the blues, I find myself in the strange position of not having a single thing to moan about. I think I may be turning into a happy clapper. Who'd have thought it eh?

OMG Have you tried the Chicken Balti pies!!!! ;0)

The more I see of Mark Hughes the more impressed I am with him.

Being a top manager is even harder than it used to be. The players are millionaires and can't be bullied or intimidated, and there's a whole range of cultural attitudes to deal with. To be successful a manager needs to be intelligent and have a range of skills - Hughes seems to fit the bill.

His signings have generally been very good or better, and his reactions to the media are spot on. It looks very promising.

More good stuff from Hughes. He still has some way to go to, perhaps, justify some of the praise but so far so good.

He's no longer an ex rag in my mind, he's really got stuck in with his job here, seems dedicated and I'm really impressed by his backroom staff too although it did take some time for me to warm to them.

I honestly can not think of anyone I would rather have at City than Hughes to be honest. I don't like or rate Jose particularly to be honest. Hughes is young, intelligent, dignified and shrewd. He'll do right by us.

As long as he doesn't do one to Stretford when Baconface jacks it in then he could end up a City legend!

I enjoyed that article, gives a bit of insight into Hughes' character, sensible use of group contracts as well. I'm surprised it was in the Mirror though.
