The more I think about it the more I think England are better suited to Klopp football than Pep football as things stand, if Southgate is to emulate either manager maybe it should be Klopp for now.

Liverpool's midfield compared to City, is what England is compared to Spain. Tonight we did a Liverpool on them, as they did to City last season. Hopefully Phil Foden makes good on his potential and hopefully he wont be last of that mould to make it in his generation. Then we can start playing possession football properly, instead of relying on pace and clinical counter attacking.

Good counter attack which as I have often said is how we should play but going forward the problems still remain.
I don't disagree, he'll pick Henderson in the next game.

Good counter attack is what that team can do, he played to the strengths against one of the best teams in the world, who haven't lost a home game for 15 years, and won, its easy to knock it, and I regularly knock England and international football, but they played well tonight, clinical counter attack first half, and mostly solid defending second half.

Fuck me and still we have some whingers even after a great result.
For those knockers ... fucking deal with it !!

It was enjoyable to watch England. The first time in a long while and I hope this gives them confidence to continue playing like this.
Well first half, anyway ;-)

Some would call it realism but hey ho

Come on the lions it’s coming home

No, they're improving. And people can see that they're improving. No one expects them to suddenly be world beaters, it's that they're going in the right direction that is pleasing people.

This is not difficult.

One game cannot be classed as an improvement

Have to say every time I have seen Chilwell play I have been impressed. He looks to be very decent defender who loves to get forward and has a good cross. I’m also a fan of Luke Shaw, who is a very good player, despite the best efforts of Maureen. We are also well covered at right back and are pretty strong at centre back, if a bit thin on cover for Stones and Maguire.

So, England looks pretty good across the back four. We also have pretty good options up front. The midfield simply isn’t good enough and goalkeeping is suspect. Unless we fix these areas we will only ever be in the second tier of the Worlds elite teams.
Chilwell us a very poor decision maker, he’s not International class and he wouldn’t get in a Pep team.

Its not one game though, its 12 months with a few setbacks.

Southgate, like him or not, has changed the way England play, he's gone to a much younger team (England's youngest starting line up since 1959 tonight), he's trying to change things, it won't happen all at once.

Its worth pointing that out again though, Englands youngest starting team for 59 years, have beaten Spain away, their first defeat at home in 15 years.
