International team which plays like city

Have a look at Colombia, everybody knows about Falcao but they have got quality in most areas of the pitch, well all except centre back, so they should play a little bit like City with the flying fullbacks and the poor defending.

Colombia
Coach: Jose Pekerman
Star man: Radamel Falcao
Tournament best: Last 16 1990
Qualified in relative comfort and playing the finals in South America should also be an advantage to Pekerman's side. In Falcao they have a born goalscorer, allied to the creative talents of his Monaco team-mate James Rodriguez, and they will feel well capable of at least matching their best-ever World Cup performance.

Just started watching football and came world cup where I followed france...and then followed city when mark huges was manager ...

Understood. You started following France in 1998 when they won the a World Cup and had Zidane. Then you became a City fan in 2008 when the Abu Dhabi Group took over. Good timing on both accounts. Do you mind me asking what club you followed before 2008, and do you still have a soft spot for them? It must have been weird the first few times City played your former club?
Nopes..not in 1998 ...i was only 10 then :).....I followed france in 2006 world cup when zidane head butt incident happened...wasnt much into domestic football then, only followed cricket....few of my mates in higher colleges here in india used to follow PL and most of them followed manu/arsenal/liverpool...I tried watching few games of manu and found their 1-0 victories boring ...and I used to get irritated by arrogance of fellow guys supporting united.....then started supporting city whenever they used to play against them ...soon take over happened with new players coming in and I seriously started watching city play and then became lover of this wonderful team :)

Okay. Someone's on the WUM. Serving a ban at the moment?

As well as the highlighted sentence, you used the word "Nope" which is coloquial and then stuck an 's' on the end to make you sound like a dumb foreigner. But you wouldn't know the word "Nope" and that it meant 'No', if you were from India.

Seriously, this is a shit WUM and I can't believe no-one else has spotted it.

Wouldn't it be easier to stop acting like a cock trying to trip the lad up and just offer a little advise that he asked for.

He's an Arsenal fan, what do you expect?

Excuse me? Our English is pretty shit, but we know that 'nope' means no.

How do you support another countries football team. that worse than being a rag, okay okay its not but its friggin hardcore plasticness. I watch other nations and enjoy the football sometimes but support, thats just weird

Anyway

Argentina

Us Indians don't have a prayer of making it to the World Cup for generations to come, but we still love the tournament (as everyone does I think, except some wonky Americans?) and want to be a part of it. For that reason many of us get behind someone elses' national team. This can be for any number of reasons, the attractiveness of the players, attractiveness of the shirt, past success, Afro-Asian solidarity, whatever. Back in 2006 when I wasn't so much into football I supported Germany just cause they were hosting it and I thought it would be nice for the host to win, not really knowing how much of a superpower Germany is in international football. A few years back though I became a hardcore Gunner and now will just be backing teams with any significant Arsenal contingent- so England, France and Germany. I'd kind of like to see a Brazil-Argentina final though.
Why Arsenal?

I could tell you it's the way we play, something about the kit, the novelty of our name (I've had to explain to people that no, Arsenal is not a place in England), but really its more than any of these things. For many people fandom begins with an incredible moment (Liam Brady FA Cup Final against Manchester United) or an amazing player (Bergkamp), but my first Arsenal goal was a Gervinho dink against Wolves. Whom we drew 1-1. In that 2011-2012 season where we were still reeling from the loss of Fabregas and Nasri.
No one in my family is into football, I wasn't influenced by friends. I guess I can't really explain why, it just happened.
Why City?

Neel take this advice.

There are so many of our players that will be involved in the big matches. Something that is alien to us at world cups to be honest.

-- Fri Dec 13, 2013 5:12 pm --

Just watch as many games as you can and if you like the way a team plays pick them.

Group F should be interesting, there's Argentina who should win the group then Iran, Bosnia Herzegovina and Nigeria, who are all of a similar standard. It might be interesting following, say for instance Nigeria. There's a 17 year old lad called Kelechi Promise Iheanacho who was the star of the U17 world cup and everyone's got their eye on him, including City. (He may have signed to an English Club before the World Cup). You could be watching a future City star. (Not to be confused with Kelechi Zeal Iheanacho, who is 32).

I'd go for the outsiders Belgium, talent all round the squad and have the ability to upset anyone. Also they have an easy group and you're likely go get to support them in a knock out round which is always good fun.

City were a top team when I got interested in football as a young lad. The colours were different and better than all the others and Summerbee, Young, Book, Corrigan, Lee, Doyle, and especially Bell were stars. Oh and my best friend was a United fan.
