Interview with Bill Leivers - the longest surviving FA Cup winner

Trautmann, Leivers, Little, Barnes, Ewing, Paul, Johnstone, Hayes, Revie, Dyson and Clarke. The 1956 FA Cup Winners, I have never forgotten that line-up.
And (Bert apart) ne'er a funny foreign name among them, 5 or 6 of those "typically British" surnames could be standard issue for half the Privates and Corporals in those old WW2 films. So thank God for all the Dzekos, Benarbias and Guardiolas who've enriched football and u.k. life in general since then.

For their christian names you could say the same. Bert, Bill, Roy, Ken, Dave, Roy, Bobby, Frank, Don, Jack, Roy.

Three Roy’s brilliant, and if you put those on the back of a shirt not much profit to be made by the club.

My Dad always said 'Stop off at Bill's' as no-one got past him.

I saw him many times in my very younger days, a great player and servant for City

And as changes continue the next Roy to play for City will probably have started life as Ruth.

My old man's fave ever team. He got a txt because his uncle queued up all night outside Maine Road to get txts, i think he could only get one so gave it to my dad (what a fella) and i think my old man went on a charrabang ..on his own as a kid! Probably 12 yrs old roughly, them's the days eh!

I was just 10 years old but never forgot the line up. Went into Manchester to see the parade, Bert holding his neck all the time.
