Interview with Nolito

Nolito always gave 100% and i don't blame any player for showing passion even if it occasionally gets them sent off , it shows they care , he was unfortunate that Sane and Jesus came into the squad and clicked virtually straight away , they were younger and showed more energy , i have no axe to grind with Nolito , he did his best and simply wasnt good enough , and if i was given a choice in the twilight of my career to ply my trade in rainy Manchester or sunny Seville ,then i would be on the next flight to Spain , good luck to him.

I lost respect for him when he came out with that crap about his daughter looking like she lived in a cave. Couldn't he be arsed to do a spot of research before he signed for us? If he did, he'd have known that East Manchester (or even Hale Barns, Prestbury, Mere, Mottram etc etc) is not exactly the Costa Del Sol. Or did the paycheque blind him? If he couldn't settle, or simply didn't like Manchester (blasphemer!), all he had to do was say.

You don't buy what he's said in this interview about it being a joke then?

Sounds like a case of backtracking to me.
Anyhow; joke or not, it wasn't particularly amusing at the time. Then again; maybe I'm just getting cynical (more cynical) in my dotage.

Nothing wrong with a bit of cynicism, it's healthy. I do believe though if he had any issue with Manchester or the club he could've laid it on thick here but he didn't so gets the benefit of my doubt.

He said he was joking, but then said that it was true. Not really a joke then, is it?

Hey honey, you look fat and ugly in that dress - just kidding!... It's true though, you do look fat and ugly.

That's fine; I've got no problem with that. I just can't understand how our less than brilliant climate (try living in the West of Ireland!) came as a shock to him. Surely, he didn't sign for us without checking things out. Schools for his poor ashen faced daughter, housing, cost of living, is it a barm or a muffin, etc etc. Look; say you suddenly fancied jacking it in in Blighty and heading off to Australia. Would you do that without sounding things out? I know professional footballers have a reputation for not being the sharpest knives in the kitchen drawer, but I find it hard to believe he didn't know what he was coming to. As I said earlier, maybe the paycheque blinded him somewhat.

Meh. Struggle to muster much sentiment or resentment either way for him. Good luck.

Always reminded me of this guy.
