So if the EU weren't going to do anything/couldn't do anything why did we have to. If it was to help America why ? why always us. Everyone else seems to get along fine without bending over backwards to help them.

Oh yes happened under the Tories as a result of the PREVIOUS Labour regime, bit like the current crisis is the fault of the LAST Labour government.
Tories and the media have a long memory, the three day week was 47 years ago but of course it was so much worse than the cumulative effect of nine years of austerity and record cumulative borrowing and the current existential crisis brought on by the Tories.
At least in 2066 Labour will have some good excuses to use.

It was a deliberate strategy by Heath to turn public opinion against the miners.

There was no need to do it.

It clearly worked looking at the posts on here.

Most likely the destination of the Iranian tanker was unknown until it hit the Gib straights obviously at that point Syria would have been its final destination, it WAS in British waters and that's the reason we seized it,the ship was breaking sanctions and we were right to seize it, if it had got through it would have clung to the Northern Africa coast until it reached Syria out of reach from any EU country.The tanker never was in any other EU country's waters only British so Spain,Italy etc could not have seized it 'only us'

Do not think Trump asked for this otherwise he would have taken credit in early morning tweet very next day and given multiple news conferences. This looks like totally UK based action without taking US into account and no reason to take EU into account.
Maybe was a strategy to take focus away from Brexit, looks like it has backfired badly.

Point 1. Spain who are in the EU do not recognise those waters as English, they state that it is Spanish so they could have got off their fat arses and done something.
Point 2. If we are talking international waters any EU country could have seized it.
Point 3. It is EU sanctions, had we had a working government we would be out of the EU already and therefore not officially arsed about their sanctions, we could have allowed them into our waters to enforce the sanctions.
Point 4. We do everyone else's dirty work and as always we cop the shit afterwards.

All the points you make are valid, which goes back to why do we always act the big tough guy ? If we start deploying troops or sending missiles the French and Spanish will be laughing their arses off.

point 1... if they don't recognise those waters as BRITISH ,why don't they recover them along with the land they assume is Spanish,the law says they cant unless they try to enfocre it
point 2 .. we have UK waters,Italian waters,Spanish waters,,not EU waters,each water is policed by the country that owns those waters not the EU,we do not have an EU NAVY to police them.when Irish fishing boats are fishing illegally off Scotland we do not call the EU for help we would have to escort them from our territorial waters and we are both in the EU
point 3... i can assure you in or out of the EU the result of the seizure in Gib would have been the same
point 4... tend to agree we do a lot of dirty work however that's resulted in us living in a free county, free to please and come and go as you like, sleeping without fear of rogue nations dropping nuke's on us. lets face it if we had let Iran carry on with their nuke program and they had developed nukes that could reach the UK we would all be rather twitchy at the moment,,'not a nice thought is it'
