I know some Brexiteer types want to believe that the UK, outside of the EU, can do whatever it pleases. This isn't the case.

If this were the case then there would be no "legal" wars. The US could not possibly have made a legal case for the bombing of Syria (which incidentally was illegal anyway). The same is true for the wars in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. The UN would not exist. The ICC would not exist. German soldiers and prison guards during WW2 could have claimed that they were abiding by German laws. The Nuremberg trials would never have happened. It would also mean that the USN would need to abide by Iranian laws when it entered the Persian Gulf. You know, laws that prohibit the consumption of alcohol, women covering their hair, everything. It's absurd even on first inspection.

It doesn't seem that you're capable of grasping this, so I wish you well in this fantasy world that you've built around yourself.

it will get deeper, but not too serious, imo. It's a huge humiliation of Iran, so they'll certainly act, but they know they don't stand a chance against USA and won't want anything but low intensity asymmetric fight, preferably using it's shiite proxies. The Americans would destroy most Iran military capabilities within a few days without even stepping into the country.

Americans have been conditioned to be shit scared of their lives wherever they are, because they believe they have a big bullseye in their backs. That said, they also believe that the US military wakes up every morning HOPING they can fire up the Quattro and go fuck someone up. Dichotomy, because Americans only understand sanitized war...video war...war fought thousands of miles away from their 72” flat screens and BBQ grills, so they can enjoy watching the videos with a few friends and some cold beer!

IMHO, the worst thing that could happen would be a lone gunman type attack in a US city that kills a number of people. Americans don’t like feeling unsafe in their cities, which is ironic given the levels of crime and death in most large urban areas. Again, dichotomy.

If Iran is smart, they will start a campaign of global actions that kill or maim dozens of Americans in places where the Iranians that conduct the attack simply dissolve back into the society. America’s military is not set up for guerrilla warfare, it is set up to track, target, destroy and eliminate.

It will be interesting to see how any retaliation unfolds, and whether the US escalates from there, and then what. I can only assume the US has already picked military targets, possibly in Iran itself, to destroy, so I wonder just how badly Iran wants to escalate. They want a bomb. Giving America any excuse to destroy potential infrastructure would be a backward step. I wonder what Kim in NK will ask for his nuclear technology?

This weekend will be a full on assault in the media...on both sides in the US, and on both sides globally. Gas prices spiked, airline stocks tanked. I out on a nice upside bet on those stocks today towards the close. A few months from now, hopefully it will have paid off handsomely. After all, “war...what is it good for? Absolutely nothing” except making making a few quid out of it!!!

Here’s hoping they don’t take out any US civilian aircraft or not only will I be out a few quid, but I’ll be over on the “make a few quid on the side” thread looking for a job!!
