Iranian General killed by US Drone.

Trump may not be a Christian but many of his supporters are evangelicals, and their support is his power base. We can’t absolve Christian fundamentalism from Trump’s actions.

Christian fundamentalists with excessive power and influence, have a tight grip of the American right, you are correct, however if you take them away from the scene, Trump is still his hideous self.

If you took them away he wouldn’t have been elected and if he was, he wouldn’t have the support to prevent his removal following the impeachment.

I mean that the Prophet Muhammad didn’t hear from heaven and I do not believe in the teachings of Islam.

Saying so seems to get @domalino and @Len Rum riled up, the former accusing me of a sinister view, for merely exercising my democratic right to reject a particular religion.

I think some of us just think it's fucking hilarious that someone thinks about using language like "false religion" in this day and age.

They have a different religion to you, doesn't make theirs false and yours true. Just as likely theirs is true and yours is false, or both of you are wrong for believing in a big man in the sky. Or maybe the Sikhs or Hindus are right.

But the fact you can't have a discussion about the middle east without feeling the need to assert that their religion is false is very revealing.

What’s fucking hilarious is you thinking you know what my religion, if any, is.

Now can you explain why claiming a religion is false is “prejudice”?

It’s very large accusation that you need to now back up.

Had a Muslim come on here and said an atheists belief (or lack of) was false, I highly doubt you’d be jumping to call them the same.

Had I said Christianity is false, you’d have done the same.

I don't need to know what your religion is. In fact, if you read my comment I never said what your religion was at all.

As for the rest, I probably would have picked you up for declaring any religion is "false" because it's such a fucking stupid thing to say, and if you want to know what's prejudiced about declaring an entire religion is backwards and under-developed then you might want to pick up a dictionary.

So you don’t think religion is backwards?

And yet the US Constitution actually calls for the separation of religion and state.

No, you presumed I had one and have said that my religion, again you do not know if I have one, isn’t better than theirs.

Again, why is saying a particular religion is “false”prejudice?

Let’s see if you can stretch your brain to answering a basic question- Do you think the Prophet Muhammad’s claims are true, realistic or believable?

If the answer is “no”, then you too believe Islam is false.

I never said it was “backwards” nor “under-developed”, I said it’s younger than Christianity and is going through a similar process as Christianity did previously. I mean you could argue it is “backwards” and “undeveloped” in areas, as you could in areas in all religions but you don’t strike me as someone who cares about detail.

When you look at what has been done in the name of Christianity, in the West, in the 20th century and the many centuries before it, and then you look at Islam, it’s easy to see that a large problem currently is Islam’s relative infancy when compared to Christianity.

Several posters across the political spectrum have agreed with this, even the poster I had a disagreement with initially. It’s only you that hasn’t and has chosen to become fabulously offended at a reasonable opinion.

No. This is complete bollocks.

I don't believe in it personally, but I'm not so arrogant as to presume I know which religion is false or true, and I'm not going to declare 2 Billion people as being backwards warmongers for believing in a religion which has contributed significantly to the advancement of society through medicine, maths & farming, while the Christians were persecuting people for not believing the earth was the centre of the universe.

The fundamental christians in the US have done just as much damage to the world as Islam this century, so don't start the bullshit about "oh in the old days christianity was bad but now it's all Islam"

A self professed Christian propped up by the Christian right is the reason we're in this thread afterall.
