Ireland: Bluemoon Forum hurt me

Very old article that, was in the papers/OS at the end of last season when he picked up the player of the year award. Sure it was shown on here? My mate owns a gallery with some very exclusive art in it and he has just donated some of the work to Irelands charity, believe he is having an open event and Ireland will be there to pick up the art. Will let everyone know when it is but will only be able to get a limited number of free places to get in as it's a small venue in town so it would be a first come first serve (dont PM me now though boys and girls).

No matter what happens from now on the damage has been done by us, the City fans. We deserted Ireland in his darkest times, and as a result he will never love us as much as we want him to, which is a pity because he has the talent and the drive to become a City legend. I hope he is a better man than the majority of us on bluemoon - one willing to rise above name calling and general idiocy and show forgiveness.

"A guy who was working on my house was going on about 'Blue Moon this, Blue Moon that'. I didn't know then that it was a City fans' website."

This would be josh ( Blue2112) ;)

Ireland has always been an outstandingly gifted player. Pearce was just too boring and inept to fit him into his team and Eriksson was never going to drop Elano. When he was slotted in on the left or right of midfield his vision and ability was wasted and you could see he was uncomfortable playing there.

If you ask me his inability to find any consistency before last season was more of an indictment of the previous managers than Ireland himself. Saying that, I remember most Blues being disgusted at the thought of him being sold to Sunderland so it isn't true that all fans wanted him out of the club.

Here's a Clown who knows sod all...

I know plenty.

Was he always blatantly gifted? Was he almost always played out of position? Did he have a clue what he was doing there, did he always end up drifting into the centre anyway? He should have been given more of a chance in his natural position long before he did. Sven and Pearce were mugs. It was so obvious he could make and score goals from central midfield given the chance. And I also remember plenty of people not wanting him to be sold - me being one of them. So why exactly a clown?

I will be part of the 10% that wasnt then.
ditto

And me. Criticism is fine as long as it is fair and justified. Some people seem to take an instant dislike to a player and criticise them incessently. Vassell used to get constant grief over things he didn't do by a bloke in my stand, but the guy didn't applaude/praise when Vassell pressed and forced an error out of the opposition (his main strength). Some people choose to see/not see certain things to suit themselves, it does my head in!

Indeed it was and this is part of the evening with Blue2112 and Macky where we ended up with Superman himself. I have posted before about him and I will say it again. He was genuinely nice, patient with star-struck old blokes who should know better (me, Macky and Pendy) and was a credit to himself, us fans and the club. You can still have heroes in your forties. Long may his cape flutter in our service.
