Ireland told he's unlikely to be included in 25 squad

There was no bust up with the manager. City have already denied this earlier in the day and Mancini is quoted as saying the following about Ireland:

The City manager said: "I have to cut my squad down to 25 and at this moment I have more than 30 so someone will have to miss out but right now I don't know who it will be. I have not decided anything about Stephen Ireland. There has been no problem with him on the tour. He could still have a future here. I don't know how it's possible for him to think otherwise because I haven't decided. It is up to him to prove himself to me."

Ireland captained City in their second pre-season defeat, a 2-1 loss to New York Red Bulls on Sunday, but was withdrawn at half-time. "I made Stephen captain of the team so that shows I still have belief in him," said Mancini. "The only reason I took him off at half-time was because he played 90 minutes the other night against Sporting. I am concerned about players doing too much and getting injuries."

Mancini was equivocal on Ireland's future should a club move for the midfielder this summer. "We would have to see," he said, and admitted Bellamy is another high-profile player with an uncertain future at the club. "It is clear that some of the players we have here are going to be left off the list. I am not sure yet if one of those will be Bellamy. At this moment it is impossible to know which players will be on that final list."

Key line being that Mancini has belief in him which is why he was made captain for the game. This should end all the doubts about Ireland's future but I'm sure all the Ireland haters will see it differently as they simply have a conclusion looking for evidence.

its 8 players
but if you look at the manchester eveneing new site it tells you the run down of the squad and the new rule

<a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1311850_premier_league_rules_city_squad_break_down" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... break_down</a>

the only reason why they put the rule ther becasuse of us and how much we are spending. but they didnt invent the rule when utd and chelsea were ruling the premiership!

Idealy mine would be:

3 Keepers: Hart, Given, Taylor.

8 Defenders: Boateng, Lescott, Bridge, Onuoha*, Richards*, Kolo T, Zabaleta, Kolarov.

9 Midfeilders: A Johnson, Silva, Barry, Yaya T, de Jong, Ireland*, M Johnson, SWP*, Kompany.

5 Forwards: Adebayor, Bellamy*, Robinho*, Tévez, Caicedo*.

Under 21s in the team: Balotelli, Boyata, Ibrahim, Weiss, Nimley, Cunningham, Vidal.

That's 11 home grown from the 25 along with most of the Under 21s. (I think)

* = doubtfull to make the squad.

Given, Hart, Taylor, Richards, Bridge, Lescott, Ireland, SWP, Adam Johnson, Barry, Bellamy, Neddy.

That's your home grown players. 12 of them. As is my understanding they have to be at ANY English club for 3 years before the age of 21.

Zabs, Boetang, Toure, Yaya, Kolarov, Kompany, De Jong, Silva, Tevez, Ade, Viera.

Johnny Foreigners. 11 of them.

Balotelli, Wiess, Boyata etc are all under 21 so don't count.

I'd loan out Logan, M Johnson, Gonzales, Caicedo and Robinho(or maybe sell).
I'd sell Jo, Rocky and Etuhu.

So that's 23 players. So room for 2 more signings and the quota is complete.

Don't forget that anyone not sold and not given a squad number can still play in cup games. I really don't understand the fuss.

Hes made it clear several times now he wants to stay.

He also said he has no interest at all going to Villa or Sunderland which has caused the problems with the milner deal.

I am pleased if he stays as hes a very good player just needs to get his head right and confidence back.

Hamman is right in that article on the MEN site we cant keep turning over half the first team squad every season getting rid of solid established proven players and replacing with big money quality on paper but unproven.

We will win nothing if thats the way we carry on. We should have learned this mistake from last season sellikng DUnne for buttons replacing with K Toure andLescott who are not as good.

Personally I will be very disappointed if any of Ireland, Bellamy, SWP, Nedum, Richards etc leave. We need solid cover if every area I honestly believe they all have something to contribute if even as subs, cover injurys and for cup games. The fact is we dont need to get rid of any of them wwe dont need the money and there are squad place available if we get rid of the shit who are unliklley to make a decent contribution.
