Ireland v England

I haven't seen enough of Ibe, I doubt you have either given the small role he's had a Liverpool this season. He may become an England regular, he may not.

It all looks great when these young tricky wingers come on the scene and look impressive, let's see how impressive he looks when teams have had chance to watch him and defend against him. Andros Townsend look good a few years ago and I'd consider him bang average. Same with Harry Kane, let's see what he does in the next 18months

Where would this England squad, managed by Hodgson, finish in the Premiership?

Jamie Vardy FFS.
He was a lot better than Rooney. How many more times can Rooney be so shit for England and not come under proper scrutiny? Is there some by law that he has to amass enough appearances for England to surpass the England goal record no matter how shit he performs?

I think a lot people realised how poor technically the England team are last night.

The likes of Henderson, Milner, Smalling and even Rooney are very average technically. It may not show in the often kick-and-rush Premiership, but it does in International football.

In terms of ball control and short passing, England are miles behind the best in Europe.

Why is Jordan Henderson in the England team? Close ball control, accurate passing and great vision? Or because he's big, strong and runs all day?

Wilshere is probably one of England's best players on a technical level, but has a questionable attitude and hunger levels. Does he really want to improve or is he comfortable?

It starts from grassroots level and I think there has been a change in attitude and more emphasis placed on technical ability, but not enough. Sheffield Wednesday were holding trials for young players who had to be a certain height, so the old school English mentality of physical attributes being more important still exists in some parts.

Wilshire isn't difficult to dislike on a personal level but as a footballer and on yesterday's evidence he was absolute class. Rooney, however was absolute shite. Why is he always chosen, regardless of his shit performances? Crouch would have probably scored 2 yesterday instead of Rooney's none.

Commercial reasons more than likely. The sponsors and media want Rooney in the team. That's why I just can't watch them.

That happened this year. I am liking this academy plan. My whole point was in general. As of yet, I'm not aware of any home grown product produced by City, maybe bar Micah Richards. I've also been hearing City were interested in buying Sterling to fill the "home grown quota". I don't understand why City can't integrate a good Youth academy product onto the first team. Liverpool have done tremendous with this, they did with Sterling and now they are trying to do with Jordon Ibe and Jerome Sinclair. Even Chelsea are doing good with Ruben Loftus Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek has played 2 or 3 games for Chelsea this season. We haven't created any youth it's right but Chelsea bar John Terry years ago are not exactly the standard bearer for it.
