That happened this year. I am liking this academy plan. My whole point was in general. As of yet, I'm not aware of any home grown product produced by City, maybe bar Micah Richards. I've also been hearing City were interested in buying Sterling to fill the "home grown quota". I don't understand why City can't integrate a good Youth academy product onto the first team. Liverpool have done tremendous with this, they did with Sterling and now they are trying to do with Jordon Ibe and Jerome Sinclair. Even Chelsea are doing good with Ruben Loftus Cheek.
Liverpool are 7th in the league so their youth players don't need to be that good to get in the team. City brought through lots of youth players when 1st team standards were as high as they are now
I am confident we will bring youth players through. I'm also safe in saying that they'll probably be overlooked for some workhorse playing for Liverpool or United's 'next big thing'
The standard of football today was dire. Smalling was given the runaround by a Championship striker, the midfield could hardly string 2 productive passes together and the lack of attacking intent was pathetic
