Is ADHD made up?

Rach is lovely and not fat at all as shown by those smashing pics of her dressed as snow white. I think some of the folk on here are trying to wind you up love - the only way to shut them up would be to post a few "glamour" shots, or PM them to me and I'll tell the perverts the truth.

i think its made up bollocks.
You have a daughter don't you, or is it two you have? Either way, say she has got to 6 years old and the behaviour is that bizarre and worrying you have decided to seek medical help. You go through the process of tests and after 6 months it's diagnosed as ADHD. Now you know for a fact you've fed her right, provided her with the required nutrition etc and have done what you perceive to be a good job in parenting her, but that behavioural issue was so much that you had to get the help now provided. You read into what has been given to you as the diagnosis and you think to yourself, 'christ, that is her to a tee'. Knowing that it's not you, not the toffees, not the Pepsi but it is infact what the specialist has said, do you still say to yourself that its 'made up bollocks', or do you embrace what the specialist, (who knows far more than you ever will on the matter), has told you and look forward to assisting your daughter so that her behaviour stabilises?

i'm old and stuff like this makes me laugh, how is it we didn't have it years ago? its just an excuse for a brat of a kid., more likely the little fucker is spoilt and as soon as the word no is used they throw a tantrum.
i know a lot of people think it is a real "illness" i'm just not one of them.

i have 4 kids and they all did as they were fucking told. they still do.
Just typed and retyped a reply but i'll fuck that one off, you're obviously a bit dim/clueless where this matter is concerned.
What I will say is I hope for their and your sake that your grandchildren are all wired as perfectly and are as impeccably behaved as your perfect children appear to have been. I do wonder what you would do with a child who couldn't 'do as it was fucking told'. The word 'couldn't' is used intentionally.

Don't rise to them, mate. Some people are just wired to think that their view of everything is right, and nothing you or more qualified people than them will ever change their views on anything.

Best of luck with your boy.

I can only go off my own experiences with the whole ADD/ADHD label and my belief is that the child's behaviour is heavily linked with their diet and there is no coincidence that many families I have grown up with around the area have not just had one problem child but have had many and they have all been branded with ADD and stuffed with Ritalin.

Bad Parenting = Bad Diets = Uncontrollable Kids.

After my father literally disowned me at 11/12 and I came back to my Mothers my behaviour was very erratic and uncontrollable.
This was not a medical condition but a reaction to parental issues.

A psychiatrist said I had ADHD and I was prescribed Ritalin.
I refused this and never took it.
Instead I got more involved in sport and Funny how without any medication just a consistent
stream of sporting activities my behavioural patterns changed.
Top post...diet and activity should always be tried before filling kids with drugs...granted a the pace of life doesn't always mean parents have the time for such things but it can be done

Ritalin is just the easy way out.
Feed the kids an healthy, balanced diet and provide regular exercise and they won't need that shit.

Psychologists say its real but we know they do love to make up names for millions of different 'conditions' which in reality are just different personality traits. We can't all be the same, some people don't like being touched by strangers, some dont like being shouted at, some dont like spiders, if you went to a psychologist he'd reel off about 20 things 'wrong' with you.

Pharmaceutical companies make billions off the medication for it thanks to studies done by said psychologists about what the symptoms of someone with ADHD are. The Americans pump their children full of the stuff and many of the children who take it actively say they feel 'dull' and 'subdued' when they take it.

There is no actual evidence to say it exists, have you ever seen an adult with ADHD? It simply doesn't happen because its just kids who eat sugar, go mad, calm down, hormones, some children being more lively than others and bad parenting that means they are out of control that have created the ADHD myth.

If parents actually disciplined their children and controlled their sugar intake etc.. then im sure the levels of 'ADHD' would go down dramatically but in America unfortunately they seem to find giving their kids pills the much easier option.

I remember reading that in Japan, they don't have depression, it isn't something that their Psychologists diagnose, except where people are actually suicidal.

This was annoying the Pharmacutical companies because depression medicide is very very lucrative.

People like to think that they can take a pill to make their problems go away

This is worse in the US because of the relationship between government, pharmacutical companies and the medical industry.

Yet they have one of the worlds highest suicide rates, i wonder what is causing it?

Coming from someone who was diagnosed at about 10 years old and lived on Ritalin and then Concerta throughout my high school years I would say it is real.. Yes I was a little shit, but nobody can tell me that I didn't want to learn! Teachers who didn't understand it labelled me a troublemaker and basically told each other not to waste there time with me as I couldn't sit and listen in class, so why bother with me. It's a horrible cycle of bad behaviour, then not being trusted from then on, and the most horrible part of it all was that I genuinely did try, but simple things like sitting and listening for 20 minutes I found absolutely impossible. The tablets did work to a certain degree but I found with teachers who did understand and took time to allow me to do practical things rather than listening for half a lesson then working out of a text book for the rest had a much better response.

I remember one teacher of mine (maths) who's methods of teaching were to throw a text book at you and get you to work through it once telling me I would never make anything of myself, i'm glad he motivated me :)

I'm now an engineer, probably earn about the same as he does and don't have to put up with 'naughty' children.
