Is anyone else feeling disipointed by transfers?

Frankly I`m more disappointed by the attitude of the players rumoured to be on the way out. City doesn't owe them a living.
If Ned is a quitter - so be it
If Ireland doesn't realise that playing well every OTHER season and not seizing his opportunities when handed to him is unacceptable - tough

Johnson would be a sad loss - I would at least like to see him try to comeback and become the player he could be.

I agree. If players are staying and fighting for their place yet still don't get a game it just shows they aren't good enough. If players are unhappy at not getting a game and want out then let them go, it's not a charity. If players have no ambition of making a name for themselves at a club in their first team and are happy to play in a reserves side picking up a paycheque, then more fool them for wasting a career.

Our Academy is a long way behind many many clubs all around Europe and South America who seem to be able to churn player after player after... - apart from Paul Lake and arguably SWP we haven't produced anything anywhere near what others have.

The players who have impressed me the most is probably Boyata, MJohnson and Hart but no others, of all them products! Who was the last England regular to come through our Academy? I honestly can't think of any!

I don't mean by the ones coming, I mean by the club being rumoured to be wanting to sell, Ned,Ireland,Micah,Johnson all the academy players I don't want any of our academy lads tom leave as they no what city are to us!!!
what do you suggest?
none of em are likely to get a sniff

They can all stay and fight for the chance to be a 1st team player if they want to but if they don't make the grade then I'd be happy for them all to stay provided they accept they are then squad players (on squad players wages - which will still probably be more than a lot of PL clubs 1st team players).

What I don't want is them whining in the background how they aren't getting games if the manager decides they are only good enough to be squad players. I really doubt Mancini "hates" any of the the academy lads like I doubt he hates any of the 1st team. It's a job and he has to pick the best people in his mind that can produce the goods on a saturday, maybe he's made some comments to try and kick them up the arse to perform.

None of them are too poor to be a squad player regardless of some of the stupider comments on here, you just have to look at Wes Orange, Belleti, Bridge (at Chelsea), John O'Gay and Solskjaer for proper examples of squad players. With where City are going then if they stay on at the end of their career they'll have a fair few medals and memories to look back on just like those rags and chelski players.

If they want 1st team football and want to go to clubs like West Ham, Sunderland for 1st team action etc then fair play to them. They just have to decide what's their priority, 1st team football at a mid PL club or squad player in a team of stars that are going to win things. You never know, they MAY be late developers and keep some £20m signing from playing but only if they work at it.

Why though ?? RB Richards had some top games last season and also some shockers but hes defo a talent. CB/RB Ned can play both postions and in my view he plays well when he plays hes fast, strong and got a brain.CM If Johnsons fit hes class and needs to be playing! CAM Stevies form from last year was somet else and since the Fulham game werre he ad that scare he wasnt the same player but hes a natural talent. And all city lads aswell came as youngsters!!

sadly i don't think any are good enough for a title challenging team which we now aspire to be would love to keep onuha cause he loves the club but after his comments i think he will go. of them all maybe ireland and johnson should be kept. ireland to see if we can get back his form though i doubt it and johnson because we will only get pittance after his injuries though if he does come back fit he might still have potential. looking on the bright side we still have our acemady and last year saw the first steps for boyata, ibrahim and nimley also guddetti in the reserves who will have the advantage one would hope of better coaching and knowing the level expected from them where as ireland and that group the bar was lower in there development in terms of ability required to reach the first team then when they got there for a year the bar was dramatically raised so i think its enevitable but saddening that most would fall by the wayside. football is a cruel game at entry level as these guy's will find out. but i say look out for these players in 3-4 years time and i believe that none will be playing at the same level as our club and the management will have been proven right to let them go. so lets look to the future with the acedamy but remember the past gratefully cause it is undeniable that some of those players kept us where we were before the sheik arrived. so thank you swp, ireland, ned and the rest

Great post. Sums up exactly how I feel about the subject.

On the topic of late developers, particularly in relation to Richards and Ireland, a lot of young players hit a relatively poor patch in there early twenties. Just look at Bastian Schweinsteiger. Not so long ago he seemed like a promising young winger who seemed to have lost his way after a couple of poor seasons. Bayern stuck by him and now he is arguably the most important player in a Bayern team that won a domestic double and reached the champions league final and in a Germany side that has been the team of the world cup. Talent doesn't simply disappear over night and sometimes young players need to be nursed through difficult periods. We need to be patient with these players and give them every chance they need to succeed so long as they are willing to stay here as part of the squad.

The four you mention can hardly complain if they ARE sold , that's for sure!

Johnson continually proves he can't stay fit , with Onuoha not far behind him ...... Richards has gone downhil since he showed the form that got him into the England set-up .... and Stephen Ireland continues to be an enigma , capable of so much , yet only delivering it in small quantities.

I agree we can't be too sentimental just because they came through the academy and the fans like to have home grown players in the team because it's supposed to mean more to them. I doubt that it actually does in most cases as young footballers seem only interested in themselves and how much they can earn. What happened when SWP couldn't wait to join Chelski only then to return claiming he was coming home! Bollox! Only team daft enough to take him. Richards isn't a good footballer...just a decent athlete. Ned similar but does seem a good bloke though...Ireland likes pink and Johnson never fit!
We are going to have 25 internationals in the squad sooner rather than later and if any not good enough will be let go......just the way it's going!
Don't worry about the others they'll still earn more in a week than the majority earn in a year!
