Is anyone else not getting excited?

Okay, yes. The football has been unreal. We look amazing. Balanced. Cut-throat.

But we did last year.

And the year before.

I think the late Oct collapse of the last 2 years has really hurt my ability to enjoy this so far. 10 games in we've collapsed 2 years on the trot now, and what I'm seeing tells me it won't be the case this year, but I said the exact same thing on both occasions.

So, anyone else still nervy, in spite of the bloody amazing football?

Roll on December and I hope this form is the norm and doesn't peter out!

You obviously weren't watching all that closely at the start of last season if you let yourself get too excited.

Getting preemptively nervy with Bravo, Clichy and Sagna at the back is understandable.

Getting preemptively nervy with Ederson, Mendy and Walker at the back is probably just flapping.

Mendy isnt really spending much time at the back. Ederson and Walker have definitely improved the defence, but the attacking licence that Pep is giving to Mendy places a greater onus on the rest of the defence to cover him. I'm a huge fan of Stones but he's still got the odd lapse in concentration in him. And I'm not convinced that Stones-Otamendi works as a partnership. Hopefully kompany's latest injury is very short term, but even so I don't think he's the player he was a couple of seasons ago (although still a great leader and organiser), he seems to have lost a fair bit of pace.

I still think we could end up regretting not signing another centre back and possibly a back up left back.

Oh yeah, I get it. But then the mind wanders to a lack of depth in one or two key areas. We've already been a fraction away from having Bravo in goal for the rest of the season. How's Gundo and Komps gonna hold up, will Kev do his usual disappearance until Spring or will we see him be a complete and consistent player this season ...I'm cautiously optimistic having been burned in previous years, but at this stage last year we looked like we'd torch absolutely everyone, but we burned out.

Im loving it,and I'm incredibly excited,as we're only going to get better.I feel a bit sorry for anyone who is looking for negatives.

Think it will be hard to keep this intense pressing game all season . Unlike Germany and Spain they get easy weekends there are non in the PL .
But I am loving the ride

Come now.

Walker is the best right back in the league, to go to him from Jesus Navas is a mind-blowing upgrade all across the park.

I'm not as low on Bravo as some here, but it's hard not to see the improvement with Ederson. With that improvement comes confidence for players like Stones that improve their performances too. I feel much of our defences confidence was shot last season because a single mistake or loss if possession resulted in a goal.

We are looking scarily good because we took what we had and acquired basically every dream target that could improve it. And now the players are actually starting to get Pep's game, something which always was going to take a season regardless.

Have you heard the good word about Danillo?

You mean our back up right back, left back and centre back? I like Danilo, we could do with 2 or 3 of him.
