Is Britain Anti-Pot?

there is no way of accurately gauging the damaging effects of smoking bud. as someone else has said, the mental health workers only c the people who are paranoid etc...not the other people who have families, go to work, go n play/watch football and live a normal life... Id like to know the percentage of people who are mentally fcuked due to smoking but it is an impossible stat to produce as no one knows the exact number of people smoking these days...its everywhere!!
i say, smoke untill you resemble a korean... daily!!

And to add weight to that, weed makes most things better...eg.. sex, music, shitty films etc etc....

He only See's the people that have problems he doesn't get to see the other thousand people that smoke weed and don't have a problem so your logic is flawed. Using your logic if there was a specialist in say peanut allergies and they started to go on about the damage peanuts cause to people and they should be banned would you agree with that. Even though the majority of people don't have a peanut allergy and it has no ill effects on them at all.

Peanut allergy effects 1.7% of the population what percentage of weed smokers have some form of mental health problems?

Its less than 1% IIRC from the most recent studies.

Your correct, lets rephrase: How many people in the mental health system have smoked weed?

Not talking about whether it is lethal, we know it isn't, it's the health problems later that should worry people, we already have a mental health worker posting their experience and they are the ones who have to deal with the problems, if their experience says no than the government is right in not legalising it.

Well, no it isn't right because the government should not (and in my opinion does not) have a right to ban it in the first place. No government should ever able to prevent you from putting an substance in your own body. If that does happen the government is saying they own your body and therefore you are a slave.

So alcohol doesn't cause non-lethal harm then?

Guys I take your point but it's a moot point, we are not talking about alcohol. We are talking about the reason why Britain is anti-pot.

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes. The goverment loves any reason to take as much money as possible of the general public. You decriminalize weed or make it legal people will be growing it in the back gardens instead of paying through the nose for the privalegde of having a drink.

EDIT: If the goverment brings out that 50p per unit minimum i'll be going back on the weed. Its already a hell of alot cheaper to get stoned rather than get drunk. They bring out that 50p per unit though which will near enough double the price of ale for me (i very rarely drink btw) and i'll be jacking the beer in and going on the weed.

If the government were to get into the growing and selling of weed buisiness, you can bet your bong that it will cast a fuck of a lot more to buy it.
Over here, I believe you can get a prescription to buy and smoke, but you certainly won't be getting the high grade shit for a deccent price.

I know most people seem to think that it is a reasonably harmless drug, however being a mental health nurse I have see too many young lives ruined by a torrent of psychotic symptoms to say that I agree it should be legalised, legalising cannabis would have a massive negative effect on the mental health community.

Why should we take the moral high ground when we talk about illicit drugs?

The effects of alcohol far outway any of the damage caused by many of the so called Class A & B drugs.

Sorry, but alcohol is a far worse drug, causes much more dependability, in fact my dad has seen this in himself so I don't touch the poison. He's suggested to me that if I'm gonna do something, stick with pot.

Pot on the otherhand has the ability to control those who are lazy. I've seen it happen to plenty of my friends. However if you have the willpower to control your life and choose not to smoke as often as they do, you're kosher. everything in moderation.

As far as prices; in California it's a known fact that the price of pot will go down if it is legalized (it's on the ballot this november, vote yes on prop 19 ;))

That;s my 2 cents. Oh and it's America's biggest cash crop. In a matter of a few years. haha. Revenue from taxes will help the state pay for my GD education! it's a win all around people:)

and finally I view legalization as a freedom for peopole who do smoke. "Why do gay's deserve the right to marry if I can't smoke a plant" idealism come's to mind.

-- Fri Aug 27, 2010 7:55 am --

In california, if you have a medical marijuana card, you're buying the best pot you can in the world. It's really that good. Prices are brootal, though. 45$ for an eighth. Tough.
