Is Gaël Clichy that good?

Seems to have lost some pace which can happen by that age.

Was shocked with his defending of Torres for the first.

Shouldn't have been so square and flat-footed. He underestimated Torres' pace and was not quick enough this time to bail himself out.

Disappointing with his start to the season but I think he'll find form.
Hopefully for another club

thought he was the best left back in the league when we won it , but his standards have dropped alarmingly , last season was average , this season he is having a mare , i would play zabs at left back , and richards on the right until january , then buy either baines from everton or shaw from southampton

His first half display was awful and caps a miserable start to the season for him. His one asset was his speed and ability to recover even if beaten. Now he's getting beaten for fun game after game. Kolarov knows how to defend by getting his body between the attacker and the ball. Like many posters, it 's amazing how far Clichy has regressed to the point where Kolarov now looks the far better option.

Clichy is a liability --- have never liked his positional play always leaves too much room for attacking wingers to control the play , gets turned far too easily and now everyone beats him for pace.
It's time to off load him asap before everyone team latches on ---underlined his short comings big time today Chelsea always lokked a threat down their right side

Nail on the head, that's precisely what Clichy should have been doing with Torres but where has Clichy's pace gone, it's not just half a yard he's lost if Torres is strolling past him.

Yet many on here in the summer, when others were touting the possibility of signing a left back, were mentioning him as "world class".....clearly he wasn't, isn't and is actually impersonating the standard of Wayne Bridge this season.
