Is Gaël Clichy that good?

Why can a player never just be in poor form?
They always suddenly become shit whenever they get on a poor streak.
Kolarov was hated for almost all of last season, he was in poor form, he is now considered our best left back, because he is in good form. Now the same thing is happening to Clichy, just give him time and he'll be back to his best.

If we gave up on a every player who's every been in bad form then we'd be completely replacing our squad every season. We have a few players who aren't impressing at the moment, Hart, Clichy, Nasty (sometimes), Dzeko, Garcia.
All of them are great players (with the exception of Garcia) and they have all done great things for the club in the past. Don't be so quick to abandon them, especially Dzeko. If not for him we would never have finished 2nd last season.
Just be patient.

Apart from the penalty last night Clichy has played well in the last 2 games. He's nearly back already.

He's not sadly, even in a 7-0 he still managed to get megged and beaten really easily at one point and last night he was lazy getting back and too eager to fly around trying to make an impact instead of focusing on the basics, which oddly would explain why when he's not in great form he has mediocre crossing, positioning, decision making etc.

Good player who is bang out of form. Where have I heard that before?

Problem is even when Clichy remembers how to defend, he's still going to offer nothing going forward. It's a position we need to look at in the summer.

Kolarov and clichy are both poor so it doesnt matter who he plays tbh

He’s not top class. When you look at our team we have players who would either be in or be pushing very hard to be in the first 11 or any team in the world. I’m not saying clichy is a bad player but he isn’t in that bracket.
It’s harsh to call him a weak link but when the rest of your team is so strong then the slightest frailty is exposed

Clichy is a very good player but sadly his form is not good enough. Drop him for few games because Kolarov has been playing well and if Richards can get his spot back then Zaba can play LB

Zabaleta plays okay at left fullback but he offers little attacking from that side.
