Is Clichy that good - two PL's in 3 years what the fuck do people want

Its horses for course Clichy is a better defender than Kolorov, Kolorov is a better attacker players

Personally i htink Kolorov will go and if he does we will replace him simples

I remember that last year, or maybe even just at the start of this season, people were saying Clichy was a world class left back and Kolarov was shit. If you ask people last season they would sell Kolarov in a heartbeat, and now... well, much can happen in one season. That said, I still think Clichy is the better bet to keep. Is homegrown and solid defensively. Got pace (had pace?) so he could at least help a counter even if he isn't that good at crossing.

Sell Kolarov while he's in good form and buy Luke Shaw or don't sell at all would be best IMO

I don't understand what this argument's about. We need them both. They bring different things to the table. For me, Kolarov edges it this season, but not by much. I think Aleks' defending skills have improved in the last two years, and by contrast, Clichy made a few fairly dire mistakes in the early part of the season. But there's not much in it, either way.

The fact that Clichy got the nod at the Swamp, Emirates, Anfield and Goodison in the run in suggests Pellegrini doesn't trust Kolarov defensively, can't say I blame him.

Which I thought has been strange because I though Clichy was defensively average last season.

Clichy has to step up next season and get back to his form of two/three seasons ago

Was an average season for gael last season but it must be hard to keep good and consistent form when you get rotated every game!

But for me, he simply isn't up to the job of being our first choice left back, and thats what we should be paying for at the rate Gael gets. Kolarov passed him by this season and I'm of the opinion that its not that Aleks got much better, we simply look better with him in there due to Gael's fall off.

Neither are good enough,at elite level,to be our first choice,hence our need to purchase.

Agreed. If Gael was that good he'd be starting for France, bare minimum in the squad. The fact that he can't beat out Evra who the Rags have been desperate to replace for the last 3 years and don't think is nearly good enough says it all.

Yes, he's very, very good at defending. As a full back, first and foremost that is what he's in the side to do. Kolarov is better going forward, and in some games, particularly against teams who park the bus, that's what we need. For other games where teams attack us we need good defenders, and Clichy is certainly that.

Not many better in the Prem really; Shaw not better yet, just got potential, Cole decent but past it now, Evra not as good and too old, Azpilicueta, no better than Clichy, Gibbs - shite. IMO we've got the two best left backs in the league.
