That they have to practically be Neymar or Messi to have a chance, a freak of a player. We have a kid who some of Europe's biggest establishments are trailing (Bayern, Real, both Milans, Arsenal), not giving him a chance would be tantamount to telling our entire academy that they have a <5% chance of making it here which could have a negative effect on our academy like Chelsea (lots of investment, none have really been given a chance... Bertrand getting a small chance lately though). The "Micah Richards Effect" of telling kids they can make it here has almost worn off now as it has been so long since we've had another genuine breakthrough, this is a chance to reset that.

He won't get much more than that from any top 4 team from the big 4 countries at the moment!

Just because he's a kid from the academy doesnt mean has a birth rite to play first team football. The dutch league is a decent standard but totally different to the Prem in its physicality, pace, intensity and endurance. One word, Samaras, oh make that two Alves. What i have seen of Guidetti is potential with a small 'p' thats all. Next season we cannot afford to carry passengers ie playing young untried players, lazy arsed show ponies. Everyone will have to be top notch and new top class players will be brought into the squad to replace the ones who havent cut it.
The club can ill afford to start trying young players out in premier league games, they have to win trophies every season, thats the way it is now. If a young player is good enough, he will get in the squad, but with what i have seen of our young players the past couple of season, none of them are worthy of a place on the bench nevermind the team. Of course that could change, but it wont be because of the farcical FFP, it will because someone has earned the right to play in this great team of ours. As for Guidetti, i think the club would be best loaning him to a Bolton or Wigan next season (if they stay up), lets see how good he really is. And if he does well, then we havent lost out and maybe he could have a future at the club.
As for the first team, i expect at least two top class strikers to arrive in the summer to replace maybe two outgoing forwards. This is the way forward for the next few years.
My God! Is this true? 25 appearances?LoveCity said:mancityscot said:problem is, guidetti wants to play first team football. i dont think we can offer him that
We gave Jo 25 appearances last season, surely we can give Guidetti 30+. It's a long season if we don't bottle our way out of every cup and you might find Guidetti could force his way in as he has a sheer drive to succeed that we aren't seeing in a couple of our strikers.

He certainly looks the real deal and he claims their league position is not a coincidence either (they lie joint second on goal difference at the moment, up from finishing 10th last season).
Has anyone been watching him and is he the real deal? Can he fit in to our squad next season? The Dutch league is hardly a shite league.
