Is it COLA or COKE?

Cola is a flavour from cola nuts. Coke is what they used to put in the stuff years ago to get people hooked. Nowadays though if they still put it, it would be called charlie cola. mmmmm

Cola is the drink. Coke comes from Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola or Coke is cola, like Pepsi is cola. It would like calling all brands of lemonade Schweppes or something.

If you're in a bar and you say "Can I have a coke please", they always say "We've only got Pepsi", so surely Coke is the brand name, a cola is the generic phrase used to describe the brown drink.
