Is it ever acceptable to boo players?

Not the point
Booing doesnt solve a thing

Not the point.

It's the fans way of venting their frustration at players who aren't putting in the required effort. There's numerous players in our squad; Bony, Yaya, Kolarov to name three that spring to mind immediately that don't play to their potential due to sheer laziness at times, not always but it's undeniable.

There's others who are just suffering a crisis of confidence like Sterling, Mangala at times and most definitely Fernando earlier in the season.

I don't mind any player having a bad game (derby day excluded) or even a bad run of form due to confidence, returning from injury or just being absolutely shit. I mean we've even seen the likes of Aguero suffer from bad games for short periods but the effort is always there, maybe controlled if he's coming back from injury but it's there. Those players will always always always get the backing of the fans. Two prime examples were Goater and more recently Zabaleta, neither very good when they first arrived but fuck me did they fight for their places and that's the difference.

Bony, Yaya and Kolarov don't give a fuck and they deserve to get booed as far as I'm concerned.

Bbony i am willing to give a pass too, as he has struggled to settle into the team. Bit different from kolarov and toure who have been here years

Never booed a city player and never will, I will however on the rare occasion have not bothered clapping them on or off the pitch if they have been awful.

Never boo a player coming on, may well shout abuse during the game and boo them off on occasions.

Rather than giving the boos to Bony it would have made more sense to boo the old guy on the touchline who has created the situation.

How can you tell they aren't putting an effort though? I did feel angry at Kolarov's effort at Southampton. And Yaya's and Bony's sometimes too. But is it true most of the time? There is a poster mentioning some time ago about how Bony trained hard even at home.

Are we judging players' effort solely on how much they run? Or should we give them a leeway and not boo them given that we don't know what situation or what conditions they are in, even when we are very frustrated and have a sudden urge to say some rude words to them? And how would the other players feel? Would they feel we are booing them as well? People are saying how the club are increasingly disconnected with the club, but we too should be better than stooping so low and justifying ourselves in booing players.

I've never booed a player, Ive have booed the team off a couple of times though.

Not even Ged Brannan or McManaman? You must be a fucking saint.

or Nigel cough.

I can remember him getting absolutely clattered when he played for us and everyone cheering. He had some treatment, came off the pitch and when he limped back on everyone booed.

Never boo a blue.
Makes us look like self righteous pricks such as the rags or the arse and just feeds the negative press.
Success is earned and not gifted on a plate and we should expect it.
Yes, this season has been shit and we should have achieved so much more but I just don't get what booing will achieve.

I presume the few that booed the Bony sub were booing Peller's obviously poor choice and management of subs for the umpteenth time, but it came across totally the wrong way as booing Bony and that is unacceptable no matter how bad you think a player is. You couldn't say he doesn't try (just not at all suitable for our style of play) and it did nearly come off surprisingly.

I think in some circumstances it is acceptable to boo a player if he has been so piss poor its tantamount to dereliction of duty I'm thinking of Kowloon v Southampton, jogging back while their forward smashes in another, Half assed tackles and clearances. Sends a message that he'll be lynched if the requisite 100% isn't forthcoming

You clearly weren't at Maine rd in Goaters early days when some parts of the crowd booed him when he was warming up FFs Closest I have come to snotting a fellow blue but he wisely left

Goater wasn't a returning former idol, as Barnes was in the 1986-87 Season.

Goaters record;

For MANCHESTER UNITED No first team appearances and none as Sub.

Maybe at the start of his City career this is why City fans booed him?

No City fan would boo a player that scored 84 goals in 184 appearances. The guys a legend as was Peter Barnes.

As for me, the first City game I attended was in 1966 with my late father and I've been going ever since.

A few booed Bony when the subs were announced before kick off, it was always likely to happen when he came on.

Fans have the right to do it, I just think its completely unproductive.

only ever booed two players. danny Mills and the other full back who smashed the portsmouth jaw in with forearm smash. can forgive poor play but not being a thug in a blue shirt.
