Is it sad that...

I go on my own to every match. Anyone with half decent social skills won't have any issues getting to know the people around them.

ive been going on my own since 1978 and i live in basildon essex... and i hate it!! johnny no mates, had a brief spell in the 90s when the kids came with me but thats it. coming out of wembley no one to talk to or have a beer with, got on train went home thats it! zzzzzzzzzz

Depends what you mean by going on your own. Do you mean you'll be sat with no one you know around you? Or will you be travelling on your own?

In the first instance, that aint a problem, but I find it a bit monotonous travelling to the game on your own, as well as expensive unless you take public transport.

If you drive, see if there's a supporters club near you, or if not, if there's one where you could perhaps meet them en route or something.

As a Canadian I`ve gone to two games, both by myself. One away at Stoke, the other at Eastlands. Couldn`t have had a better time. As an easy target as a glory-hunter (not true) or plastic (technically can`t argue that, but not true in my heart) I never felt anything other than welcome and had lots of good chats.

Well, didn`t exactly feel `welcome`in Stoke per se, but welcome amongst the City support :-)

Back home I go to all the local club`s matches and at least 50% sat alone. Best way to watch a game. Don`t want to listen to someone bitching about every pass all game, nor do I care about your date the other night. I`m here to watch the match.

You lads not thought of joining a supporters club, only £4 or £5 to join, thats what they are there for?
