Is it shameful what the FA are doing?

It’s just said on BBC News that PL clubs have agreed to finish the season no matter when it can happen.

I wonder if all the clubs really think that?. Some clubs must have sensible board members and must realise that a huge gap of months within a league season is stupid. I would say the gap is to big already. So going by what they have said this season could be known as the 2019/2021 or 2019/2022 season ...yawn...

That’ll be Stone chatting to his Rag contacts and McNulty talking to his Dipper best mates. The BBC are an awful organisation for Sports coverage these days... a slightly more articulate Sun at best.

Problem is the Premier League have calculated it would cost them £762m in TV income that would have to be repaid.
No way will that happen so they'll exhaust absolutely every possibility to get the season finished.

Null n void instead of paying back £762m just take it of next season or the next two or three seasons or is that to obvious ?

It just shows what a load of incompetant money grabbing charlatans the PL are - they have contracted out the TV rights to Sky, BT, Amazon etc but have seemingly not considered the possibility that something may happen which may mean that a season would have to be curtailed (for any particular reason) and ultimately could not be completed - presumably they could have insured themselves against such a risk? I am guessing the insurance premium would be fairly high, but that is what Insurance companies do, they would have covered the risk for the price of the premium. A properly managed business would have ensured that the risk was identified and managed accordingly.

Look at it another way, if World War 3 had started in mid-February 2020, what would the PL have done? Would they wait for WW3 to finish before continuing the season?. Would they take a short break and then play matches behind closed doors to fulfill their contractual TV obligations while the country was still at war? Or would they just call the season off and plan to resume when the war ended?

Is this clause about an unfinished season imposing huge financial burdens on PL clubs a matter of fact, received wisdom, supposition, or unsubstantiated rumour ?

I genuinely don't know, but I keep seeing it being trotted out as the first of those possibilities.

Anyone?
Honestly don't know, but surely legally the fa can hide behind some sort of 'act of god' type thing with regard to not finishing the season and the money? Mere mortals (ordinary workers) just have to accept their work and pay stopping due to the virus so I don't see why the FA, BT, Sky or the clubs are any different or better?

Neither do I, mate. Boring and predictable response to your question but it depends what it says in the contract. Force majeure clauses are a bit of a free for all. There's nothing in statute and no meaningful case law.

It's just many posters seem so certain, I wondered if it had been verified in some way.

" Force majeure " sounds like something Dell boy made up ;-)
