Is it shameful what the FA are doing?

No tin hat required mate.
That's the logical solution for me. Ok liverpool deserve the title but it's unfortunate we can't just give it them lol.
We could say the same about the fa cup. I think we're still in it I can't remember .
This season is over, I don't get why the powers keep on talking about about closed doors etc. The players have been on the beach for weeks. No way is another prem game getting played this season, closed doors or not.

I think because the decision-making progress is so complex and there are so many variables.

For example if we accept the season ends, what happens if there is a recurrence of the coronavirus the following season? Do we then null and void that season? So that is then two seasons voided. Also how do we decide who goes in the Champs lge, relegated etc? The legal fallout would be huge, especially if a club challenged the decision, and that is before television contracts are resolved.

Were so far down the road this season, it should be finished, even if that means a delay to next season. Rescheduling next year seems much simpler than all the issues around nulling and voiding this year.

Nulling and voiding is pretty straightforward tbh - equally fair (unfair) to everyone, and we just restart the entire football league as if it were August 2019 with the same euro places, and even preserve the 1st round draws for the cups if that's a thing. This gives Liverpool the chance to win it properly, which they keep telling us is what they want as it's not just about money (apparently) and preserves the 'integrity' of the league perfectly.

It is a good point about possibly having to null and void 2 seasons but you must realise that finishing off this season has nothing to do with sporting integrity and everything to do with footballing finances?

The solution is that you wait until your said scenario is extremely unlikely, having said that you cannot start a season worrying about not finishing it because otherwise you would never start a season.

There are definite financial reasons to finish the season, and that maybe is the driving force, but if that aligns with, in my view, the logical decision to finish the season then so be it.

If the season was half way through, and there was numerous variables about how the season finished it could be argued its fair on all sides. But now its clear who are competing for relegation, champs lge and that clubs like Sheff Utd are likely to gain more prize money than anticipated. Little sporting integrity in starting the season again and denying those clubs, who have completed 75 percent of the season, their rightful plaudits.

Not sure about that. Your wiping away the sporting efforts of all teams throughout the pyramid.

People keep focusing on Liverpool, but its teams in play off positions, promotion positions etc. Amongst that there will be some wonderful stories and, Imo, people would lose faith and enjoyment if those previous results were not recognised.

Imagine for example this season was null and void and then next year Leeds and West Brom are top two again and we have another outbreak? Well you have set the precedent and that makes a mockery of any sporting integrity. How could those fans trust the system again and imagine if the following year Bristol and Derby were top two and there was another outbreak? It would force the league to close again as quite rightly Leeds and West brom would cry foul.

Same with our top two place - we could restart next season and finish 20th ;-) As I said - eaqually fair (unfair) to all. The league can't be preserved in some sort of stasis to restart where we left off as there are too many variables which make it a non-starter - player injuries/fitness, other comps starting/not starting (amount of games /rest), player contracts and the likes of Kun who i'd imagine have fucking off to spend time at home pencilled in their diaries for the day the season ended. That's just off the top of my head and I'm sure there are many more all teams will be messed up to varying degrees by this which is yet another un-level playing field cause by resumption. This season is a write-off, and apart from the grasp of money I don't see any other realistic motivation to salvage it. The virus like any natural disaster is just a thing we have to accept happened and move on, just as the world bungee-jumping championships had to be shelved after 9/11.

The way I see it is 20 clubs have shown their footballing and sporting prowess over 75% of the season and they will be recognised for what they demonstrated over that period. TV companies had 75% of matches covered, players played 75% of matches, fans watched 75% of games. It is what it is and as a season it should be remembered as that.

As regards sporting integrity for next season let’s wait for the right time to commence that and ensure that every club is given a fair chance to do themselves justice for 2020-21. The opportunity to do that for 2019-20 has passed.
