Is it time to end One Minutes Applause for supporters who have passed.

Half the time people are looking at the screen to see when to start clapping, and not supporting the team - the other half are then looking around wondering why people are applauding whilst the ball is out for a throw in.

I was surrounded by applauders the other week and didn't have a clue who had died and I felt slightly weird applauding Viola Beach as I had never heard of them!

I must say that I would prefer a minutes silence, rather than the applause, but that must be me. Well said wolife1988 that is just the way it should be. Surely however it is down to the club to say that there should be a minute s silence and not the fans.

Just stick with what we always did and have a minute silence at the closest game to christmas with everyone who is blue whos passed away have their names put on the screen

Foe v West Ham at 23 minutes was a special memory. I think Christmas is perfect for the year as a whole. It's all I'd want as we're all in it together.

Just to let everyone know there will be a minutes silence before the game against Palace I believe for the Croydon tram crash victims, with one of those being a palace fan.

Just stick with Christmas and new year. A couple of weeks ago a blue passed a small mention on here but nothing more than that. Next min another blue who Natalie pike knows passes away and we have a Twitter campaign for applause on 26 min. It's double standards and seems to be a popularity thing personally I do not do it

It also depends on how well known they were. There was a huge outpouring of grief when GSC, Bluebird1 and Billy Big Spuds passed away. They were known posters. The latter was a friend of mine.

A Blue of 75 years may have died last night. Sad? Very. Will it knock me? Not as much as from people I knew.

But 99% of those applauding won't have known the people they are clapping for anyway.

The poster you quote has a point, it shouldn't be a popularity contest and all should be remembered at New Year as it always used to be.

New year and that's it as you say it's not a popularity contest. I cannot believe the club allow Natalie pike to promote that kind of match day applause, she has had her time now I think we need new less, corny blood
