Is it time to get a big target man?

Don't need a big target man as such but we need to spend big on a clinical finisher. Although Sterling has scored 21 goals for us this year it is clear that he really isn't a good enough finisher to play the false 9 setup that Pep likes to go with against teams playing 5 in the middle. Jesus is great but is still learning and the last 3 games he has been a passenger, good goal last night but where was he for the rest of the game. Aguero is our guy but you can't play a whole season with just one guy who you can depend on for goals. What is clear to me is without Aguero we don't work defences enough.

We need Griezmann and we need to make sure that we break the bank in the summer to get him. Liverpool have 3 great attackers with pace and great finishing ability, we don't. Its OK opening defences with passes across the box for tap ins but when it comes to burying the difficult ones I don't see anyone in our team other than De Bruyne and Aguero who can consistently do it.

Its no mystery that since Aguero picked up an injury recently we haven't been the same without him, even when he doesn't score his movement makes it difficult for defenders. Theres just some players out there that scare opponents just by being on the pitch.

If we can get Mahrez and a striker (Griezmann or similar) then I think we can win CL next year, assuming everyone else stays fit of course.

This.
Or better still, Salah.
Or Lewandowski.

Or we could actually play Aguero whenever he's fit instead of Sterling as false 9 and have Sterling on the wing running at defenders instead.

Agreed, Sterling is best on the wing, he isn't a good enough finisher to play striker/number 10/false 9.

If Mendy can settle in England and we sign a quality ‘fox in the box’, it would certainly add another dimension to our attack.

Whilst he’s probably the best traditional centre forward in the world, I don’t believe Kane is a realistic target. Tottenham would probably want £200m+.

I wonder if Milinkovic-Savic would kill 3 birds with 1 stone here.

He's potentially the Yaya replacement we need, he's capable of playing deep and distributing, he's very good at carrying the ball through midfield, he's got the technical ability, but when he plays further forward for Lazio he is an exceptional target in the box, making runs from a bit deeper than a striker would and has scored half a dozen headers in the last season and a half.

Pep's never going to buy a target man for the sake of it IMO, but if we end up buying a player who does everything Pep wants and can be a target man as well, he'll use it.

We've already seen at times how Pep likes the midfield to rotate and have KDB drop into Fernandinho's position while Fern makes runs forwards, and SMS would fit perfectly into that kind of role.

He's not a proper defensive midfielder but neither was Fernandinho and neither is Fred, and one of the things that was mentioned as a reason Fred was liked when we were looking like signing him was that he could play either position in midfield.
