Is it time to make the Carling Cup a battle of Britain?

Personally I don't want Rangers or Celtic in our league competition, but I'd fancy a British Cup in place of the current Carling Cup format(which is basically a devalued FA Cup).

Would it work and more importantly would you want it?

There have been a few attempts in the past to have a British Cup competition but they died a death.

I think having a British Football League Cup is a good idea but I very much doubt it will ever happen.

A more radical idea might be to finally have a unified British team competing in the European Championships & FIFA World Cup (as we have done in the Olympics).

It might be the only way we can seriously compete with the European and South American footballing giants, especially with players like Gareth Bale available.

Yer open the door and just let in a wee chink o' light and the next thing yer know the doors bashed in and we're overrun! Keep the fuckers out, PERMANENTLY!

League cup should be completely dropped. Pointless competition that makes too busy schedule even worse.

Your national team will never make any success at summer international tournaments with amount of games played during the season. It doesn't help Premier League clubs in Europe too.

It has been a lot better since they changed the format

Yeah, but it's just too much. With Premier League without winter pause, FA Cup and it's replays, European competitions and international weekends it's something just not needed.

So because once every ten to 15 years 1 player from the other home nations is good enough to get in the England squad we should give up our individual identities?
