Is it time to unmask the muslim woman?

yes, but then again it shows the double standards of our country.

Religion should not be public, only buildings are excused from that.

I'm sick of one rule for them and one for the rest of us.
since when has that been a 'rule'? stop talking shite

well it obviously is if one person acts in the best interests of the public and is persecuted and then a selfish bastard does the opposite and gets a slap on the wrist.

the only shite is your response.

I'm all for religious tolerance but I am yet to hear a valid arguement for a burkha.

Freedom to wear what you want isn't a valid argument then?

i am all for equallity, and live and let live, but the fact remains britain has been subjected to terrorist attacks with the loss of life, so what is the most important, the safety of everyone, or the beliefs of the muslims.

we have to do what is right for britain, and the people of britain (something that never happens), and if that upsets muslims then so be it, when in rome and all that.

we have respected their cultures, it's time some did ours.

What is our culture based on? apart from fish and chips I thought it was supposed to be based on freedom.

People should be able to wear what they want when not in someone elses property. It's as simple as that.

so it's acceptable to not be able to see people's faces who could potentially be a concealed terrorist who's could be close to taking away other people's "freedom" by killing them?

I walked into a cathedral yesterday and I was asked to remove my hood. I wonder if someone with a burka would have ben asked the same thing?

Would they bollocks of been asked to remove their burka!!! Typical british double standards, dont want to offend the ethnic majority (or minority)

I think the Muslim women should be the only people who decide whether it is time to 'unmask'.

I don't want Muslims telling me what I can and can't wear and by the same token I don't want to tell them what to wear. Do unto others and all that.

-- Sat Jul 24, 2010 12:12 pm --

Not by a Muslim though.

I wear what I want, when I want and believe that everybody should be free to make their own choices in life.

so it's ok for christian women to be stopped from wearing a little cross under clothing but not for muslims to be stopped being rude, ignorant and cause public concern by covering their faces?

If you went round wearing a balaclava you would unnerve an awful lot of people so I don't see the difference, I also don't see "Allah" striking down the muslim women who don't wear it, so for me they should be banned.
