Is it time to unmask the muslim woman?

How someone can justify the burka is beyond me. It creates diversity and a communtity devided. How can you have a conversation with someone if you cant see their face? its just plain rude if im being honest. if im talking to someone and i have sunglasses on, then i will take them off so they can see my full face, its just polite. When i go skiing if im talking to someone, i will take my goggles and hat off, for the same reason, its respectfull. Worst of all, wearing the burka is not even part of their religion, so why do they do it?

Meh im not too arsed about them if im honest. Was funny in Malaysia watching them boil alive whilst there husbands stood there in shorts and t shirt.

If you feel threatened buy a woman hiding her face then something very bad must of happened to you as a child lol

nope

a) it's not showing equality between men and women.
b) you can't tell who the person is, their gender or anything if they wear that garment.
c) it's rude and impolite and unnerving if you try to talk to someone if you can't see their face.

Is that dubai the Muslim state? last time i checked we were not one, therfor it should not be allowed. Again i will state that it is not part of their religion. So why do they do it?

Working in a shopping centre i realise alot of centre's have a strict policy on "hoodies" and anyone wearing it with the hood up is asked to take it down.

Now explain the difference between me wearing a hoodie in a shopping centre and a woman wearing a Burkha. By asking me to take my hood down, is that not being stereotypical and classing me as one of the yobs who wear hoods?

What will it take for a ban to the Burkha? Muslim women mugging people in the street? I'm sorry but they should be gone. This isn't a muslim state and they should be made to realise this.

it's such a red herring to claim intimidation

i presume he feels safe when a bunch of loud mouthed un burka'd drunks board?

for the record

I don't agree with the burka, but hate the right wing vendetta against it almost as much

lol a) its there personal choice theres no written rule saying if they want to live under there husband instead of being equal.

B) If its a 6 ft brick shithouse its a man, anything smaller its a women.

C) It might be rude, impolite and unnerving, hope they ban these telephones soon too.

There are more ways to conceal your facial identify. Bike helmets, hell even a beard and some big-ish sunglasses will do that.
And if you applied your line of reasoning (ie. give up freedom just incase something might happen) to other areas of life we'd be living in a f'ckin hellhole.
Anyway, the problem is terrorism - not the burka. Banning the Burka would not only be wrong from the standpoint of liberty but it'd also be counter productive.

cases of men wearing the veil, so yeah, it should be banned, it's not taking away freedom, it's protecting the people. Beards aren't relevant, bike helmets are removed and sunglasses the same, muslim women refuse to remove their veil in public, that's the issue.

More cases of men wearing bike helments when committing crime, so errrrr yeah, bike helments should be banned. Beards are relevant to your original argument, so are helmets and sunglasses. Someone can also refuse to take helmets or sunglasses off in public - and they retain that right unless there's grounds of wrong doing. Unless this is the case you have no right whatsoever to demand anything from people in public. In a bank, in a club, in a taxi, at an airport or your home - sure.

The complete fuckwittery by some on here when it comes to the understanding of and respect for freedom is depressing.

Well said, the most sensible statement on this thread. I do hope you are ready for the "political correctness" numpties amongst us who will attempt to shoot you down in flames, but will obviously fail as they still have not answered my very interesting point so i will ask it again. Why do they wear it when it is not even part of their religion?

stop turning it into political "right-wing/left-wing" bull, I judge each issue on an individual basis independent of other things.

Now for your question, at least you know what you're dealing with when a bunch of unmasked drunks are causing trouble, you don't with someone who is wearing a veil.
