Is Kolarov the weak link?

Getting sick of him being in the side to be honest especially when we have the best left back in the league on the bench.

I'm not saying Clichy isn't better just that Kolarov isn't a weak link. We aren't covering for him like we were for Savic.

Kolarov isn't our best left back but in many teams he would be.

+1. Especially when Clichy isn't injured/unavailable. Sometimes i wonder if Mancini is giving him game time only to keep him happy? He cost him 18m after all. Or does he actually rate him? I just wish Mancini isn't going to rotate the full-backs in the CL like he did last season.

No he is giving him game time because he is a top class player in his own right and offers alternative options to Clichy dependent upon the opposition. Madness that he is being criticised so early on in the season.

It's not tainted at all. It's based on watching him week in and week out when he plays.

Interesting. I too watch him (and Clichy) week in week out home and away and I have a different view. I don't defend him because

1. I don't know anything about football or

2. because I blindly defend the indefensible as far as city are concerned.

I think he is a sound squad player who will get his fair share of starts against selected opposition. I suspect we are going to have to have our own viewpoints on this subject but I am pleased to see that there are other posters on here that share my view on this as there are that share yours.

I suspect this might be an interesting conversation that could last the whole season!!

Well said...

Not sure if anyone else has said this cos not read through 14 pages but last season Mancini dropped Kolarov after the sunderland home game when we went 3-1 down and Kolarov went awol defensively (although he scored).
He played Clichy for the last 7 games and the rest is history.
I think he could afford to play clichy consistently as we were out of champions league so only 1 game/week and didnt need resting. Also mancinis bollocks were on the block so he HAD to play his best team.

I'm sure Mancini knows clichy is better, but realises clichy cant play 60 games/season. I bet when we play all the big games this year (rags/chelsea/arse etc) that clichy will start. I dont rate Kolarov but he is fine for the majority of home games, and can be great from set pieces. My biggest problem with him is that he is slow and wingers go past him like hes a traffic cone. Having said that he would still be first choice left back for probably 15/20 prem teams. Everyone loves having something to moan about. When I want to moan, I usually choose Kolarov..

I always went for RSC. Thank yourself lucky!
