Is kolarov what you expected?

getting better and better with every game he has played his defending is getting spot on and he is finding is shooting boots as well,he will be one of the best left backs around next season imho.

Not come across a thread about him today and apologies if there's one out there.

He is yet to convince me in any game if I'm honest. I think he's very vulnerable to pace and has been turned over too much by wingers recently.

I'm not having a go and don't like writing players off early.
I understand he's been out through injury etc but I can recall Jose Mourinho after him at some point last season so there must be something about his game.

But so far I've seen only glimpses and no pace and a defender who can't jump in the air.

Anyone else think the same or am I being too critical?

you are right to have concerns, i too have been dissappointed in him and jerome.ifelt we had cracked it when we got these lads in but they have been slow to settle.to be fair zab has took on that challenge and done brilliantly so we have been ok to a point.they are though both very good players so i think its just teething troubles and we can expect an improvement very shortly.

Yes - I expected him not to be the world's greatest left back after a handful of games in a new league - and perhaps to even make a mistake or two. But as also expected he is improving game by game. I did of course expect the usual "we've bought a dud" and "bad buy" comments on here by the Corporal Jones' amongst us.
I await to be embarrassed by someone pointing out my Boateng comments - I do qualify those by having watched him in the Bundesliga first.

Its clear to me he is a quality player, he isn't anywhere near touching the form he is capable of. I reckon by next season when he is fully adjusted we'll have a quality player on our hands. Makes me laugh how when we break form corners etc, Kolarov is usually the furthest forward, every time.

i like him, my problem is he's too attack minded.

wish he'd concentrate on his defending first as he is a defender afterall!

anything he offers us going forward i see as a bonus, but for now i wish he'd stop passing then charging forward 30 yards and leaving his wing wide open, he does it alot, the reason why he's never back to stop crosses.

sometimes he gets beaten to easy, could just be down to not full fitness, he's short of a yard.

Read it properly or don't bother contributing.

Personally I think Zabaleta is a more solid option for villa on Saturday and I'd have never have said that in the past.

"He is yet to convince me if I'm honest"

Can't recall him being at fault for any other goal than possible the first Everton goal and VK was equally to blame. In fact VK has made more mistakes than him. Might start a thread asking if VK should be dropped?

Oh my god, how tunnel visioned are you!!? The OP was right in his concerns, Kolarov has hardly been convincing, and if you think otherwise, you are watching a different game. However, he needs time, which is what the OP accepted. But for amount of excitement about him prior to his arrival, I have been a little disappointed. His speed is worrying, or severe lack of. I am sure he will come good though!

I wasn't expecting anything at all to be honest as I wasn't aware of him until we were linked with him.

I recall him being soundly wanked over on here which did buoy my expectations a little along with the obligatory youtube clips.

It's early days yet, I think he'll get better. He's not set the world alight but thankfully, for his sake, he's replaced Wayne Bridge which means even when he's poor he's still a fuck of a lot better than that sack of shit.

LOL

Could someone remind me how long he was out with injury? How many games he's played since his comeback? And how many of those we have lost?

I ask because I think he's the best left back we've had in 20 years and probably 3 rd best in the prem at his current fitness level. Not sure what others were expecting but I'm more than satisfied.

so far 'no' he isnt, saying that i think he has upped his game a little more latley, deffo seems more composed going forward, and remember thats how Mancini likes his full backs,to carry an attacking threat, with Boetang being the other, altho he is the one that worrys me more!! realy realy dissapointed in this guy this far, looks slow,dis-interested at times,no urgency, saying that his favoured position is cb so maybe we mite get to see him in there and judge him then.Kolarov i think will be a slow burner and come good sooner rather than later.
