LB is an absolutely massive problem. It's been targeted by lost sides for years. The problem is - who's actually attainable that's a viable upgrade?
If you have a first team player out of form you go out and buy a back up to spur him on, problem one who is the first team player, reality is we could not sell Mendy, so it is Zincenko who has to go, that in itself is going to put pressure on who ever we buy, they are going to have to be reliable, as Mendy is not indeed my good memories of Mendy are the first couple of weeks when he arrived
We haven't the same player he was at Monaco sadly due to the injuries he soon picked up in his early days here. Looks like he's lost a yard of pace too and as a LB is often caught out in no mans land. Good job Laporte covers Mendy's marauding runs forward. I'm beginning to think (like I mentioned) that Mendy may become a better out and left winger as he doesn't seem to be grasping his defensive duties too well. LB has been our achilles heel for several years now. Not sure what the answer is but I think we need to concentrate on trying to fill Aguero's boots as a priority, and that will be very expensive. If you have a first team player out of form you go out and buy a back up to spur him on, problem one who is the first team player, reality is we could not sell Mendy, so it is Zincenko who has to go, that in itself is going to put pressure on who ever we buy, they are going to have to be reliable, as Mendy is not indeed my good memories of Mendy are the first couple of weeks when he arrived

not many, that’s the problem. Maybe someone like Digne could be the answer, age is fine at 26 years old, 6 assists so far this season.
We need a space so we can improve we can not sell Mendy

Why bite your nose off to spite your face ?

He's a good player but I again struggle with the notion that he's materially better than what we have.
Ha!!! I would not.I bet you make a great coach !
depends on the price, we have a good squad, we don’t necessarily need a world class left back. Especially if we bring in a top CB. We need just a solid one that can defend. Digne is better than Zinchenko and more reliable than Mendy plus knows the league. I think it could be a good move.
Yes left back is a problem. Mendy is such a hit or miss player for us that a proper left back is essential this summer. Tagliafico would be perfect competition for Mendy, and allows Zinchenko to play in midfield. Zinchenko is way too slow and poor defensively to continue to be our second option there. Mendy needs to feel real pressure from a proper LB and hopefully that will screw his head on better. I love me some Mendy, but man it’s hard to find excuses for him anymore.
Everton have a few bob though, we'd get rinsed for Digne, still has 3 years left on his contract.
Wonder if they'd take Stones back.
