May be we can buy alaba. Real has some big financial issues and so do barcelona. Alaba has v few options and we can do better with him.

Don’t think he wants to come to us and I don’t think he is the right fight as Thiago wasn’t for us . Rather get a younger up and coming player .May be we can buy alaba. Real has some big financial issues and so do barcelona. Alaba has v few options and we can do better with him.

Keep Zin, try to offload Mendy.
Walker isn't getting any younger but he has a big contract and necessitates games on a regular basis, certainly when Pep wants to rest or rotate Cancelo.
I don't see the need to buy a left back when Cancelo also looks great there and can be kept further sweet for games, covering Zin for rotation or injury, especially as Ake and Laporte can also shift across in emergencies.
Added to that, City could bring Yan Couto back this summer and have big hopes for him at right back.
That will allow all of the above and ensure Couto is ready to get games as the potential Walker successor, back up to Cancelo on the right.
So you think we are getting a left back we do not need ?

It’s not an immediate problem, but we’ll need to find someone who can consistently hit the byline. The system is working this year, but there will come a time when it doesn’t and we need to adapt, so better to have that piece of the jigsaw in the box.

If Alaba were to sign, in my opinion, no. Not only could he rotate with Zinc he could also be Ferns replacement as well allowing him to play midfield, perfect Pep signing if you ask me. U

But Zinch is so we'd have 4 or 5 years to look for his understudy. Alaba is very reliant on pace and physicality and wants huge money, no doubt up to and past the point of physical decline.Gosens isn’t that young

He could also play CB. He would be a smart aquisition. Zinc or him at left back. Rodri or him at DM. Also if Laporte decides he unhappy with rotation and wants to leave/leaves. We’ve got our 4 CBS. We would also have his wages covered and more if Fern and Mendy goes and no transfer fee. Smaller squad but still plenty to allow for rotation. I know just the club are usually more frugal than the fans especially in terms of numbers if not overall costs also wondering what you would do next year going with left back I assume you would try and off load Mendy but rotate Ake Cancelo Zinchenko and Laporte at left back

The only problem is that with those options, nobody can really play the wide role that Mendy does (even if he's not good at it). Cancelo did it against Wolves, but he's not left footed and there may be times when we need him on the right as well. Even though we've been playing with inverted fullbacks lately, I think against teams that play 5 at the back Pep wants the option of a wide LB to try and break them down. IMO that's why he brought Angelino back, but found out he couldn't defend well either.
One thing we lack is left footed options to hug the touchline. So you're either going to need a LB like Mendy that does that or a left footed winger with the inverted FB behind them. That's why Foden is stuck wide left lately. Of course the best thing would be a left footed Cancelo who can either go wide or invert with good ball skills.

Wouldn't be the end of the world not to get a new LB in the summer. Alaba would be great but it has to be someone of that quality or it's not worth it.
The current 3-2-5 formation means the need for a traditional LB has diminished significantly.

Definitely the priority,although id go with 1 striker and 2 midfielders.If anything left then a specialist left back would be lovely.We have no issues in defence for me all of them do a great job & aki is very solid for me. 2 Strikers & midfielder is more important now
