We’ve got 2 left footed centre backs that need games that are head and shoulders above mendy. Zinch backed up by those two and cancelo should be enough for this year. Mendy will never be good enough I’m afraid to finally have to admit. Id give him a free or loan and just write him off

I take your point, but, City were playing away and did have Walker and Zinchenko on the bench. It’s not worked in the past with Mendy-Sterling down the left. Even with Grealish holding the ball, playing it simple or actually taking opposition players on. Mendy is a liability; position wise-shocking, possession-never has it long enough to be any use, tackling-useless, first touch-embarrassing and communication...? Haven’t a clue. In my opinion, City have and will never be any threat with Mendy-Sterling-Marhez in the side at the same time. It’s been proved three times before but it keeps happening. Mendy should have gone in the summer and a utility player been brought in to fill the league and cup games for rests and injuries. I’m baffled but not surprised he’s picked, and after the Community Shield farce, he‘ll be in the side for the next game.

Clearly Zin is able to do a marvellous job at left back, our link up play on the left when he plays is different class. Mendy’s ok for cup ties and against PL and CL strugglers.

Tierney is the obvious solution but what’s he gonna cost ? If we can somehow get 25 or 30 for Mendy then spending circa £75m on Tierney becomes more realistic.

I try not to slate City players, but at the moment I wouldn't trust him in those games to be honest.
The lad just can't defend - delivery is good but he can't get in the side just for that
(Zinc is my first choice LB currently, and he's earned that right)

Wish our scouting was better, surely there's quality full backs in Europe who'd fit our needs and won't break our bank. Instead it's some Nuno Mendes links that are denied and now we're expecting a left back 'next summer' can't wait for Aké or someone to have a decent run at left back so they say next summer again.

Not sure why we do not play three centre backs , we have three brilliant players in Dias,Stones and Laporte lets utilise them and adapt the system to our best players , with addtiona l cover from the central defenders the left back position wouldnt be such an issue , we could play either Zinchenko or Cancelo as a wing back.
