I just can't see how he is worth 26m.. We could have got a much better player for that price.

I think you paid 16/17 million too much. I like Millner and he's a hard worker. But there's not one thing he's great atThe Fixer said:BlueGun said:Tin hat on.

I think we paid 6/7 mill too much but he's not a winger we would see his true attributes in the middle of midfield like he was at villa.

He can play a variety of positions and play them well, he can both attack and defend, he's young and he's English. I can't think of a single person who we could get who would tick the above criteria.
Added to this, we paid £16m + Ireland, not £26m

but why did he get young player of the year when you have someone like fabregas who's a year younger didnt get it? Also Millner made his debut 1 year before Fabregas. So he shouldnt really get that award. He's also older than Nani who had better season than him last season. I would say even Song had better season than himThe Fixer said:gooney said:I think you paid 16/17 million too much. I like Millner and he's a hard worker. But there's not one thing he's great at
Thats harsh, he's English one of the most versatile players in the league.... at bonly 24 will get better also wonbthe pfa young player award last season.
I do have sympathy with your viewpoint. However the fee is worked out (straight cash, or cash plus Ireland) we probably did pay too much for him. Then again, we've probably paid ''too much'' for a lot of our signings since September '08. As soon as we show an interest in a player, the fee will rise. I guess it's a case of other clubs thinking ''They can afford it''. There have been very few real 'bargains' post-takeover; AJ and Kompany are the two that spring straight to mind. £7m and £6m respectively are the figures I've seen mentioned for those two.BlueGun said:Tin hat on.
