Is our military…

Would you say that the army is an organisation which encourages young recruits to question and challenge their superiors?
I wouldn't imagine it is mate tbh. It would make it a little difficult to get things done on the battlefield if everything were put to a vote :-)

What the forces do do though is mission command which encourages the devolvement of decision making to the lowest practical level (where the information is) and empowers the individual to lead themselves and other within the framework of the commanders intent.

Whilst I'm very proud of our armed forces I disagree that its the only thing to be proud of.

This is still one of the best countries in the world to live in and I think the very fact our politicians have let our standards slip and we are all not happy about it proves the standards we expect.

I sat in a coffee shop today and people of all colours and creeds were sat dressed very well and laughing together.

It made me proud.

Strangley, and I have no idea why, I have had a belief over the last few weeks that 2023 is going to be a really good year.

Big thanks to the armed services for manning posts over this period sand giving up their own familiy time for us.

Happy Xmas to them.

Why is there going to be a general election? Or are we winning the quad ;), hopefully both.

Just curious, do you think that such things only happen in England ?
No not at all, thankfully it happens all over the world.

I think what I was trying to say, is that despite everything that is happening around us good people just get on with life in a calm and gentle manner.

Both would be great!

Not sure why I think it really, but my gut is telling me it will be a much better year.

I think the war will end, strikes will end and inflation will ease making us all feel better.

I've had quite a lot of unfiltered access of the army recently and I'd suggest you don't have to be a sexist, racist, generally offensive, right wing c*nt to get on, but it sure does help.

So, unfortunately it's a no from me.
You must’ve been very unfortunate to meet the wrong people as the 99.9% that I see everyday are a credit to this country. Remember, the forces are a cross section of society so you cannot filter certain behaviours out when they join, only educate them when they are in. And those that cannot be educated, they will be discharged.

Just like to point out that I served in the RAF for 25 years and I can tell you with all honesty that I never saw any racism or misogyny and I have no doubt that if it ever did occur then every single person I served with would have done something about it.

I'd also like to say that, despite the common misconception, the last thing the Armed Forces want is robots who are incapable of questioning their superiors. Initiative & resourcefulness are encouraged at all rank levels. Regarding orders given, it's knowing where the line is and realising those occasions when they must be obeyed.

Finally, after nearly 10 years as a Service veteran, I can unequivocally state that Forces and ex-Forces personnel are infinitely more reliable than your average civilian.
