Is Robinho still our best player?

most influential for most of a season has to be ireland, by virtue of the position he plays, his ability to find a city player with one touch, and his awareness. But he is not yet in the top 5 mids in the world yet. robi is in the top 5 ball-playing forwards. The prem is not the best stage for robi the refs are more lenient on thugs and he is frail compared to a lot of players. If he flourishes with our new skill-based squad then he will be a legend, but if not he will be gone by the end of the season. When ireland and tevez have more game-time together they will rip teams to pieces and if robi is the cutting edge then great, but ade,rsc and bellers can finish as well so he wont be missed as much.(if he was to go). To simplify i believe robi would fetch more on the transfer market than ireland because he has a higher profile in world football but i believe play-makers should be the most valuable, no doubt some will say robi is a play-maker but for me he can be over-powered more than ireland . Of all the players who have worn sky blue stevie ireland comes closest to colin bell and i cant praise him more than that

can we continue this thread without making reference to the darkside? incidentally the wifes grandad reckons Edwards was the best player he'd seen.

Robbie is in a different class to anyone I've ever seen at City (I'm not old enoigh to remember Bell et al) and i'm surprised he doesn't get the acclaim he deserves from the media in general. he seems to be considered a light weight joke of a player by some. He seems to have shouldered all the blame for our away form!?!

Robbie, Ireland & SWP always get you ready to stand up in your seat when they have the ball

Ireland is our best player because he's our creativity and he does it consistently, home and away.

The good thing for me this year is we don't rely on Robinho ... we have Adebayor, Tevez and the like who can all create something out of nothing as well.

This all depends on what people consider to constitute a 'best player'; if it's a flair player that makes you go "WOW", then it's got to be Robbie; however, if people consider it to be determined by the most consistent and influential player, then you could go for Ireland, but could also go for Barry (time permitting); another option is a player who scores shit loads of goals, in which case Adebayor could be classed as a 'best player'. I suppose it's all down to how you see the game, for me, football is about entertaining people, and therefore, the flair players are the ones that are remembered as the greats, and so for me, Robbie is still our best player, and with the added class to our team this year, i expect to see even more from him.

P.S. Superman is also the dogs!

barry -great work rate. ireland- cool under pressure, made lots of off ball runs. tev held on to ball, earning free kicks and breaking oppositions momentum. adey-worked his socks off and whatta goal! toure -covered the backs well, made them more of a unit. given -made few good saves.look forward to everyone s effort to make the teams GOAL, Great work and still have talent on bench to see!

Robinho is the best player of his type in the proem

Barry is the best player of his type in the prem

Tevez and Stevie are right up there when set against their relative comparisons

'Best' player is all about context: -

If what is most important to you is a player that can do things few others can even attempt - it is Robbie

If what is most important is a testament to our academy - then is is Stevie

If what is most important is shoring up the massive hole that has been our defence then it will likely be Toure and Lescott in the future

For me though creating the stable platform in midfield and being the link up tot the fantastic strike force we have is most important - therefore Gareth Barry is head and shoulders our most important signing

Of course Tevez is also fantastic cos it pisses off the rags so much
