Is Shay Given the best keeper we've ever had? If not who is?

Joe Corrigan, after a poor start got his chance due to Keith Macrae breaking his litttle finger and he took the chance with both gloves.Fantastic goalie.....but Keith Macrae was superb too.The only thing is, he was a little small, but he was so quick to the ball. Can`t say I ever saw him make a mistake.
But if you want legends then it probably has to be Trautman.
i was at the game he did his injury versus leicester away..mike doyle went in goal and if he'd have been a goalie and put that performance in every week he would have been the best we ever had..but he wasnt and didnt so he aint..what a game he had tho..

Far too soon to say - and possibly unfair to even ask the question at this stage of Given's City career, in my humble etc.
Tony Turncoat did some sterling work until his defection. Corrigan will always be a hero of mine. David James hardly put a foot wrong in his time at City - his save from Lampard, at Stamford Bridge (0-0 draw when they were thumping everybody) might be the best I've ever seen in my life - from any keeper! Peter Scmeichel was excellent but only one year in the City shirt means he can't seriously be considered as City's greatest ever. Still, he ranks alongside Pat Jennings and Neville Southall as perhaps the greatest goalie I've seen in my life (honourable mentions for Shilton, Clemence, Zoff and Zubizaretta there, too). I never saw Trautman (must have been one tough mudder, him) or Swift but I hear they were handy.

So there you have it - I start off by saying the question is unfair and I then ramble on about some of the greates names in goalkeeping history. And some people say that message boards are full of hypocritical wafflers! The very thought...

WEAVER WAS THE BEST BEFORE HE TURNED INTO A RAVER

AND SAD TO SAY TONY RAG COTON WAS AWESOME BACK IN THE DAY.

Shay's certainely up there, at least for recent keepers.

Rate him more than Van der Shite, worst keeper even to keep a clean sheet. And rag fans think he's the best thing ever.

Given is in a different league!

started watching city when corrigan was dropped for macrae. rightly so. bert was a top man for his era and his heroics, but he would not compare with given. which is why you cannot compare across era's. mr swift deserves recognition but again would not stand comparison.

Saw all of the above mentioned except Bert Trautmann

Corrigan - kept us up single handedly from 79-81

Macrae- good shot stopper - but dodgy with crosses

Coton was booed early in his City career because of the halfwits liking Dibble- won them over in the end.

McDonald and Quinn won us matches while in goal, Gleghorn secured a good point in 89

Given - Best keeper in the World currently- bar none.

James - never let us down much.

Seaman- sadly past it.

Schmeichel- never let us down much.

Stowell- did ok

Hart- has a lot to learn- but shows promise

Williams- had hard act to follow in Corrigan - but was steady away despite taking alsorts of racial shit off opposition fans.

Weaver- did everything for us when we needed it at Wembley- can't say owt else except he wasn't top drawer

Wankers- Dibble, Tracey, Immel, Suckling, Nixon, Burridge

Can someone tell me who Stowell is i can't recall him
