Is Silva actually that good?

I got kicked out of City mancs for commenting on the Spuds/Spurs/Tottenham game and using the traditional term for the Y*D army... So nothing to do with my opinions just the wrong word when the mod was obviously having his period

Ouch, that's harsh! anyhow stick around mate, it's all about opinions - even if yours are crap!!! ;-)
:)

Cheers mate, this forum does feel a lot more like a muck slinging contest to be honest. Everyone just slags each other off here. Citymancs was bit more intelligent at least.

Most of the time I post negatively when my day is bad, and positively when I am having a good day, or I'm baked!

End of the day a Forum is for discussion and the proposing of ideas so even crap opinions still get out there.

I once read someone sig and it said:

"you can rant and rave and argue all day long on the internet, but in real life your still a idiot" I always think of that when I am on a rant lol

I'd much rather have had David Villa .....

but Silva will do!

This forum desperately needs a sense of humour transplant.
The OP quite obviously had his tongue firmly in his cheek, and the reaction was even funnier.

Oh thank god, I was getting a little worried there :)

sorry if I prefer someone who'd score us goals.

No wonder citymancs rejected you.

Not quite sure what the problem is with what I wrote. I looked at the players stats which is what I do whenever we are signing a player. The stats are easy to find.

Sorry, but players who create goals are just as important as those who score them. No point having a brilliant goal scorer if he doesn't get the ball anywhere near the goal. Evidently he chips in with between 5-10 a season, which is fine from a midfielder. Better to watch a player than just looking at his stats though. He's only 24 as well, so won't be at his peak yet.

When you say we should have got Villa, i'm assuming you mean we should have targeted him (can't see anyone other than the most deluded souls believing a player should prefer a move to us over Barcelona), i imagine we probably did inquire about him, or made contact with his agent, but it's been pretty obvious for a while that he was going to Barca, so saying we should have signed him is way off the mark in my opinion.

Slightly confused at how you classify a key player for one of the best international teams in recent years (the Euro winning Spain side, looked better than the current one), who was also a key player for probably the 3rd best club in Spain over the last few years, as transfer crumbs. Probably one of the strangest statements i've ever read on here, and there's been some amount of shite.

BlueMoonie wasn't comparing Silva to Negouai as footballers - he was comparing the response on Bluemoon, which was probably similar.

Personally I haven't seen enough of Silva to judge. My worry is that he isn't fast enough and is too feeble for the prem, but he's obviously a class act and hopefully he'll have the mental strength to succeed where robinho failed

I can already hear the shouts now, on a wet and windy night in November.

"Silva? You'd get bronze in a two horse race you lazy get!"

I seem to remember a fuss being made like this when we signed Negouai, I just hope I'm wrong
OMG, that's like comparing a bed sit in Miles Platting with a 8 bedroom house in Alderley Edge!
Bit of a gamble as to if he settles or not and his consistency, all depends on his character, will be interesting to see!

I prefer to think that Silva is an eight bedroom mansion in Miles Platting, or Collyhurst or Moston or Harpurhey.

We don't have to buy the world's best. We need to build a team and I think Silva will have a substantial contribution to make to that team.
