Is Tevez part of the problem or the Solution?

I don't think the breakdown in the attack against West Brom was down to Tevez, he passed to Ballo and then ran forward asking for the ball back, Ballo turned and passed across to the midfield. To me it was Ballo's fault. Tevez can be very selfish though, he seems to want to walk the ball into the net rather than pass the ball to somebody who has more chance of scoring. For me Aguerro/Balotelli or Aguerro/Dzeko would make better partnerships. Aguerro is getting his form back after injury and just needs time. Tevez adds speed but sometimes stealth is better. I do wish we were quicker on the break like we used to be and when we get a throw in the players do not move around enough.

It’s always struck me that whenever City lose or play badly, it’s usually only Tevez who escapes criticism, mainly for his visible effort and honest endeavour when the opposition have got the ball.
However, our iconic moments from last season rarely featured Tevez. In fact his best moments arrived during that strange week against West Brom and at Norwich when we thought City had blown the title and needed the rags to drop points.
Even the winning goals against Newcastle and QPR appeared after he had left the field.
It was Tevez who got us going against Swansea, but in some games he plays with almost schoolboy indiscipline following the ball all over the pitch.

His performance against West Brom was typically vibrant yet on two occasions he ran into the wrong space when Balotelli had the ball and the move broke down.

Is he the best player in a team, struggling for form or is he the main reason why we often look so lopsided?

Can't make my mind up

Not read all the replies, but some blues are too busy abusing each other to understand the main point of my original post.

Let me put it another way.

When Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison walked through the door in 1965 our history was changed forever.
However the first thing they did was replace the fans favourite and Top Scorer from the previous season. The Kippax loved Derek Kevan, but Allison could see that he was inhibiting the younger players in the team.
That's the genius and the secret of football coaching. That's also why most of us could never do the job.

Why didn't you put it like that in the first place then?

Good shout re Derek Kevan - I thought he was a god when I first saw him. Allison took a risk over DK and it paid off - apparently. Was it 'genius' or just luck? Who knows what would have happened if Derek Kevan had stayed...?

Let's face it; whatever genius Malcolm had was well and truly gone by the time he replaced Tony Book. (And that's no secret!)

I think Bobby M is taking a similar risk with Tevez, only this time it's probably more to do with maintaining Tevez' resale value than anything else.

Personally, I think Tevez is part of the problem rather than the solution, but I hope he continues to score as long as he plays for us. I for one won't be too bothered if he goes in January.

I personally would be very unhappy if that happened...thankfully i think Mansour recognises a great player when he sees one.

This is a clarkie... yes?

Haven't read a single post.... Tevez = the best i ever seen in my medium sized career watching City(30 years), yes he did this and he did that but pound for pound he is easily the best and he is looking lean and mean and his attitude is spot on, running off so the sub could be made quickly the other night, chasing down in the 94th min against the jacks, oh and ffs, give him the fukin free kicks around the box, not Ballo nor YAYA but the man that is Tevez.

(Kinky was the best but Really it is Tev... sshhh, don't tell geo;) )

no ..i thought you was doing a clarkie, now i realise you was just talking shit

...says the guy who thinks that Mansour actually knows a a thing or two about football. He pays people to know about football for him. He obviously knows a thing or two about investments - Manchester City and the wider development of Etihad / area are among his main interests in the UK - the players are just extras in his big picture.

He's a fan because he owns the club, and like the rest of us, he wants to be entertained. Tevez may well be one of our better entertainers, but he's still got baggage from Bayern.

In my (often painful) experience, Arabs aren't overly sentimental, have long memories, and tend to hold grudges... Don't expect Mansour to be too bothered about Tevez as a person or a player.

They're all replaceable. Tevez tried to make Mancini and MCFC look stupid. He won't get any favours from Mansour.

Replaceable
