ISA / bonds / fix rate saver etc

Cheers for all the replies boys/girls/aliens, we already knew Mrs Gaz's grans money is going to pay for her home until she gets down to 23k absolutely nothing we can do about that but she does have power of attorney should her gran lose her marbles

My mum is still reasonably young so should hopefully be ok for the 7 years before the bastards try to get their hands on her (my) money just wanted to stick it in an account to earn interest as I dont need it at the minute

£2200 is scandalous.
Was put in there originally as at end of life. She wasn't eating or drinking in hospital and thought was on her way out. Family came from Boston and Australia to say their goodbyes. Social services were paying it as it was only bed available and thought she wouldn't last. Recovered from that (still got Parkinson's and dementia) so family paying most of it now

I can definitely relate to a lot of that. We’ve been through statements of intent, back to reasonable health, before infections took hold.

I’m sorry that you, and others, have to go through this phase in life. It’s not fun for anyone and you just want the best thing for your loved ones. Stressful too.

It sounds like shes got a good family supporting her.

My grandma was quite similar. We never told her how much it cost. She’d have gone mad.

Don't get me wrong, they did care about her where she lived, but I can’t see how it costs over £100 per day for them to keep her.
Try and get an all inclusive hotel with trained care staff for that a night.

I get that, but there were 40 people in my gran’s care home with 3-4 staff over night, one of which had medical training. The rest were carers.

The numbers still don’t compute to me.
