I'm just reflecting on our missed transfer targets from the summer, at the time I was a bit fearful that we would be weaker still this season.

However in retrospect, the emergence of Nasri and the capture of Negrado are we actually better off than we would have been with isco and canvani?

50Mill for Cavani or 16odd million for Negredo. Yeh im happy with what we have!

Isco however id of loved to see in a city shirt.

Yes. We have managed to sign Jovetic too, who (fingers crossed) will stay injury free when he returns and add that extra creativity and goal scoring. He is a brilliant player and at times when Silva and Nasri need a break, or Aguero/Negredo, can come in and still be influential. Nasri has been a massive bonus, he is enjoying the faith Pellegrini is showing in him and playing brilliantly. Negredo has been absolutely class. I do not believe Cavani would have had as big an impact in our side, or as good a combination with Aguero.

Not seen Cavani play but I am more than happy with Negredo.
The glimpses I have seen of Isco he really does look something special and I am a bit disappointed we did not get him. I think he would have been in the squad rather than Jovetic though. We cannot play everyone every match and I think he would have fitted in fine.
Our biggest miss has been letting Kolo go or not getting Pepe the way things have panned out.

I know what you mean re: Negrado, different sort of player than Cavani but it's what we needed for the team - engineered!

Isco is a gem of a player. Cavani is an overpriced good player but love Negredo so don't miss that signing!

Yeah, the financial difference between purchasing Cavani, and buying negredo, combined with the on field performances we've seen, mean we really made the right decision in refusing to pay the extra for Cavani. On the Isco front, he looks a real talent, and he's still extremely young as well, he's definitely one I'd have loved to see at City.

Isco we probably should have captured, though Nasri is clearly doing an absolutely fantastic job at making that a moot point. They both should be moot as we should have bought Hazard, but that's another discussion.

What makes the Cavani/Negredo deal so amazing is the monumental chasm in price difference between the two. Not just in the transfer fee either, because Cavani would have been in our top bracket of earners at the club. Over the life time of the deal he could have cost 50m more than Alvaro! We can only speculate how well he would have gelled with Aguero, but it's safe to say it would have to be pretty bloody well to beat Negredo.

If he keeps it up Negredo will be going into the world cup as the number 1 striker for the World and European champions. And he cost us relative peanuts. Everything is pointing to us getting a stormer of a deal so far.
